Columbus, OH

155,004 - 195,000 USD

🏢 Summary: Senior Software Engineer role focused on owning complex, cross-functional initiatives across the full stack, from architecture to production. The position emphasizes AI-first engineering practices, leveraging AI agents for planning, code generation, and review while maintaining accountability for production outcomes. You will design scalable systems, lead technical initiatives, and mentor engineers while working with modern cloud and web technologies. 🗂️ Requirements: 5+ years of experience building web applications, backend services, and APIs, Strong experience with PHP and Laravel, Experience designing and implementing full-stack features (backend, APIs, frontend), Ability to design system architecture and evaluate technical trade-offs, Experience leading technical initiatives, Experience mentoring junior engineers, Experience working with AI coding agents in development workflows, Experience monitoring and owning production systems 📃 Skills: PHP, Laravel, Vue.js, MySQL, DynamoDB, Kubernetes, AWS, Serverless, APIs, Lambdas, AI, Claude, Cursor 🏢 Description: About the Role: Loop is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to take meaningful ownership of complex, cross-functional work, from architecture and design through production. You'll build scalable solutions, influence technical direction, and make the engineers around you better. AI at Loop Engineering: Engineering at Loop is AI-first, not aspirationally, but operationally. Every engineer is provisioned with Claude Code and Cursor, and we expect AI agents to be your default starting point before you open a file. The role has shifted: you are not primarily a writer of code. You are the judgment layer, the person who determines what should be built, validates that what was built is correct, and owns the outcome in production. At the senior level, that judgment extends beyond your own work to the systems, standards, and people around you. You're not just using AI well — you're helping your team develop the habits and instincts to use it well too. Our Blended Work Environment: We work from our HQ in Columbus, OH, and are distributed throughout the United States, select Canadian provinces, United Kingdom, and Australia. For this position, we're open to Columbus, OH; Boston, MA; Chicago, IL; Austin, TX; Los Angeles, CA; or fully remote. Our Tech Stack: PHP/Laravel, Vue.js, MySQL, DynamoDB, Kubernetes, AWS, Serverless. Our hiring process is tech-stack agnostic. What You'll Do: - Design and implement complex, high-quality features across the full stack: backend services, APIs, lambdas, and frontend. Translate ambiguous requirements into clear technical designs and own the trade-offs. - Start with the agent, not the editor. Invest time in planning and intent articulation. The quality of your prompt is the quality of your output. - Review AI-generated code with the same rigor you'd apply to any code. Plausible is not the same as correct. At this level, you're also setting the standard for how your team does this. - Set the standard for AI-assisted code review on your team. Model what good verification looks like, not just for your own PRs, but in how you give feedback on others' AI-generated work. - Lead small to medium-sized technical initiatives: provide direction, surface dependencies early, and keep stakeholders informed without being asked. - Mentor and develop more junior engineers through code review, pairing, and direct feedback. Making the people around you better is part of the job, not a bonus. - Make reversible decisions fast and flag the irreversible ones early. Operational trust means others can plan around your delivery. - Make the system around you more effective, not just your own output. Propose improvements to code quality, processes, and team norms, and follow through on them. Your Experience: - 5+ years building web applications, backend services, and APIs. Strong PHP/Laravel experience preferred. - You use AI agents as your default starting point and can describe your actual workflow: how you plan, prompt, evaluate output, and decide where to spend your review time. You own what ships, regardless of how it was generated. - You have a point of view on where AI helps and where it gets engineers into trouble, and you actively help your team navigate that line. - You track how your code behaves in production, not because someone asks you to, but because you own the outcome. You've caught regressions before support tickets did. - You can evaluate architectural trade-offs and make defensible decisions, not just implement what you're handed. - You have examples of leading technical initiatives, mentoring engineers, and driving cross-functional alignment. - You operate with intensity and hold a high bar for your own work and for the people around you. You give direct feedback, ask for help early, and respond to setbacks with ownership rather than withdrawal. - You've worked closely with product managers and design teams, and you've had the hard conversations with peers, stakeholders, or leaders, with directness and care.

The position combines senior backend engineering with enterprise deployment and technical pre-sales support. 🗂️ Requirements: 8+ years software engineering or solutions architecture experience, Strong backend development experience in Java or Kotlin or Node.js, Deep understanding of APIs, webhooks, event-driven architectures, distributed systems, Hands-on experience with AWS or Azure or GCP, Practical experience with Docker and Kubernetes, Ability to write and debug integration code in live customer environments, Experience working with regulated entities (Banking, Fintech, Insurance, Payments), Hands-on experience with OAuth 2.0 or OpenID Connect, Experience with Open Banking APIs or payment infrastructure or regulated onboarding workflows, Ability to lead enterprise implementations from architecture to production go-live, Willingness to travel across Europe 5–10 days per month 📃 Skills: Java, Kotlin, Node.js, APIs, Webhooks, Event-driven, DistributedSystems, AWS, Azure, GCP, Docker, Kubernetes, OAuth2, OpenIDConnect, OpenBanking, Payments, eIDAS, EUDI, OID4VP, OID4VCI 🏢 Description: About Authologic Authologic is building the identity infrastructure layer for the digital economy. Our orchestration platform enables enterprises to verify users globally through a single API, connecting identity providers, banking systems, eID schemes, and verification services into one seamless experience. As we scale across financial services, fintech, gaming, telecom, and regulated industries, we are looking for a Forward Deployed Engineer who can bridge the gap between enterprise customers and our engineering organization. This is not a traditional software engineering role, nor is it a theoretical consulting position. Inspired by modern, high-velocity tech delivery models like Snowflake, this role requires a unique hybrid of a heavy-hitting backend developer and an enterprise deployment specialist. You will work directly with some of Europe's most sophisticated organizations, helping them design, prototype, implement, and optimize identity and payment workflows that become critical parts of their core business operations. The Role As a Forward Deployed Engineer, you will be the driving execution force behind enterprise customer onboarding and implementation. You are the ultimate bridge connecting deep technology with complex corporate business processes. You will own the technical delivery of our most strategic enterprise deals — from first architecture conversation through to production go-live. You will work directly with customer engineering teams, compliance stakeholders, and executive sponsors, and you will carry direct influence over Authologic's product roadmap through the feedback you bring back from the field. What You'll Do Lead Enterprise Implementations & Onboarding. Act as the primary technical delivery lead for enterprise customers during onboarding and implementation, taking full ownership of the production go-live. Design and oversee integration strategies for complex customer environments, ensuring compatibility with legacy enterprise systems. Guide customers from proof-of-concept through production deployment, mapping Authologic’s API directly into their internal business operations and user journeys. Build Prototypes & Accelerate Sales (Hands-on) Support strategic enterprise sales opportunities with high-level technical expertise. Develop rapid, production-grade prototypes and proof-of-concepts to unblock complex deals. Run hands-on technical workshops with customer engineering teams, including live integration sessions against the Authologic API — you should be comfortable writing working code in a customer environment. Participate in executive-level customer meetings where technical credibility and speed are critical to winning business. Design Identity & Payment Architectures Integrate Authologic into complex customer ecosystems including: - Identity & authentication platforms (MFA, Strong Customer Authentication); - Core banking infrastructure and advanced payment systems; - Fraud, risk, and transaction monitoring engines; - Mission-critical customer onboarding workflows; Design EUDI Wallet and eIDAS 2.0 compliant onboarding and authentication flows, advising customers on regulatory obligations and technical architecture ahead of the December 2026 and 2027 deadlines. Influence Product Direction Act as the voice of enterprise customers internally, bringing raw frontline feedback to our product teams. Translate complex corporate edge-cases and customer requirements into structured product feedback. Collaborate closely with Product and Engineering teams to shape future platform capabilities, deciding where custom delivery ends and core product features begin. What We're Looking For: Technical Expertise 8+ years of software engineering, solutions architecture, or hands-on implementation experience. Strong backend engineering background with professional experience in Java, Kotlin, Node.js, or similar technologies. Deep understanding of APIs, webhooks, event-driven architectures, and distributed systems. Practical experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP), Docker, and Kubernetes. Ability to write clean, efficient integration code live during technical workshops and debugging sessions under pressure. Identity & Financial Systems Experience Proven track record of working with regulated entities (Banks, Fintechs, Insurance, or Payment Providers). Deep understanding of how identity verification impacts broader business processes (onboarding, payment authorization, fraud mitigation). Required: hands-on experience with OAuth 2.0 / OpenID Connect and at least one of: Open Banking / bank API integration, payment infrastructure, or regulated onboarding workflows. Advantageous: familiarity with eIDAS 2.0, EUDI Wallet, OID4VP / OID4VCI, or European digital identity schemes. You take ownership of delivery outcomes, not just deliverables — you care whether the integration is live and performing, not just whether the documentation was handed over. You can navigate a large enterprise: architecture review boards, IT security teams, procurement, and compliance stakeholders are familiar terrain. You shift registers without effort — detailed technical discussion with a developer in the morning, executive summary with a CTO in the afternoon. What Success Looks Like Within your first 90 days: you have taken ownership of at least one active enterprise implementation and are the primary technical contact for that customer. Within six months: you have driven at least two enterprise customers from signed contract to production go-live, and you have run at least three pre-sales technical workshops that progressed deals forward. Within your first year: you have established repeatable integration blueprints that reduce average time-to-production, and your frontline feedback has directly shaped at least one core product decision. Location & Travel This role is fully remote. It requires regular travel to enterprise customer sites across Europe, typically 5-10 days per month. We will tell you exactly what that looks like in the interview process. What we offer Base salary + participation in the Authologic Inc. Employee Stock Option Program. Remote-first culture with access to co-working spaces (we’re a remote organization, but we meet occasionally in the office and during our quarterly off-sites). Good start-up vibes, ability to work with ambitious people, and access to the YC network via Authologic founders. We give you a lot of space and autonomy to take action – just tell us what you need!
