Job Description

Olsson provides engineering services for data centers, large commercial developments, hospitals, laboratories, schools and universities, and military facilities. Our Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) teams support complex facility designs, including HVAC, power distribution, lighting, and advanced modeling and analysis.

As a Senior CFD Engineer, you will support the Data Center team by developing and executing CFD models for mission-critical facilities. You will collaborate closely with mechanical, electrical, and commissioning teams to deliver meaningful, data-driven solutions.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute CFD models for data center and similar built-environment applications, including interior and exterior analyses.
  • Perform model setup, troubleshooting, and validation.
  • Interpret CFD results and communicate findings through reports and presentations.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to support design decisions and improve system performance.
  • Participate in client discussions and recommend solutions.
  • Apply knowledge of ambient conditions, wind rose analysis, and psychrometrics to modeling efforts.
  • Coordinate with professional staff and clients to support project delivery.
  • Support CFD efforts in other markets as needed.
  • Travel occasionally to job sites for observation or client meetings.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated CFD modeling experience for data centers or similar complex facilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Bachelor's degree with 8+ years of related CFD experience.
  • 8+ years of experience supporting engineering and facility design efforts.
  • Knowledge of data center equipment, systems, and operations preferred.
  • Understanding of normal and emergency operating conditions within critical facilities.
  • Flexibility and willingness to provide timely, practical solutions.
  • Path toward Professional Engineer licensure preferred.
  • Prior Six Sigma or Cadence Reality experience is a plus.

Compensation

The typical annual salary range for this role is $90,000—$170,000 USD. Compensation may vary based on geographic location, experience, and qualifications. Employees may be eligible for performance-based bonuses and merit increases.
