Software Engineer (Performance)​ (f/m)

Your responsibilities

As part of the Performance Engineering team, you will contribute to the implementation and continuous improvement of the Home Connect IoT Platform services, with a primary focus on performance engineering, scalability, and resilience.

  • Evaluate new technologies, tools, and technical approaches before adoption by platform or development teams.
  • Drive load and performance testing to ensure reliable operation under real-world conditions.
  • Analyze performance bottlenecks and identify root causes in high-load environments handling tens of thousands of requests per second and millions of users.
  • Collaborate with development teams to continuously assess and improve platform performance.
  • Develop and conduct load and performance tests in alignment with system architects and program management.
  • Evaluate existing and new components from a performance and reliability perspective.
  • Develop and maintain infrastructure for dedicated load and performance testing environments.
  • Create, enhance, and maintain automated load tests, reports, and dashboards.

Your profile

  • 5+ years of experience in software engineering, performance engineering, or related areas.
  • Strong willingness to continuously learn new technologies, tools, and engineering practices.
  • Experience in load testing and scaling.
  • Experience with Java; additional experience with Scala, Go, Python, or TypeScript is a plus.
  • Experience with scaling backends and web applications, messaging infrastructure, asynchronous IO, reactive programming, and databases.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform, Ansible).
  • Experience with observability tools (e.g., Prometheus, ELK, APMs).
  • Experience with REST load testing tools/frameworks.
  • Experience with GitHub and GitHub Actions.
  • Strong analytical skills for hypothesis creation, experiment design, metric definition, and translating findings into improvements.
  • Understanding of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) concepts.
  • Experience with Agile practices (SAFe, Scrum, Kanban, Pair Programming).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; German is a plus.
