Hardware Engineer

The Hardware Design Engineer is responsible for the design, development, analysis, integration, and validation of embedded electronic hardware systems for automotive applications. This role requires applying engineering principles and independent technical judgment to develop reliable, safe, and high-performance hardware solutions that meet customer, regulatory, and industry requirements.

The engineer will work closely with systems, software, mechanical, manufacturing, and validation teams throughout the product development lifecycle, supporting architecture definition, schematic design, PCB development, hardware integration, troubleshooting, and technical problem resolution.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Experience within the automotive industry (Tier 1 or Tier 2 supplier experience preferred).
  • Experience designing and developing embedded electronic hardware systems.
  • Knowledge of EMI/EMC design principles, testing methodologies, and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Understanding of vehicle electrical architectures, Functional Safety (ISO 26262), and automotive industry standards.
  • Strong understanding of system-level and component-level hardware design.
  • Familiarity with automotive communication networks and protocols including Ethernet (ETH), CAN, LIN, and LVDS.
  • Experience with thermal management considerations for ECU and embedded electronic designs.
  • Ability to participate in and lead schematic reviews, PCB layout reviews, and design evaluations.
  • Knowledge of modern automotive hardware platforms, embedded processing systems, connectivity technologies, and interface architectures.
  • Understanding of ADAS, Infotainment Systems, Zonal Architectures, and Software Defined Vehicle (SDV) concepts.
  • Ability to support multiple technical domains is considered an advantage.
  • Experience with Power Integrity (PI) and Signal Integrity (SI) analysis is preferred.
  • Prior experience in hardware architecture or system architecture roles is a plus.

Required Technical Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in schematic capture and PCB layout design.
  • Experience using Altium Designer is highly preferred.
  • Experience designing high-complexity, multilayer printed circuit boards (PCBs).
  • Strong understanding of PCB design rules, constraints, and best practices.
  • Experience managing PCB-to-mechanical integration requirements and packaging constraints.
  • Hands-on experience with hardware bring-up, debugging, failure analysis, and root cause investigations.
  • Proficiency using electrical laboratory equipment including oscilloscopes, power supplies, logic analyzers, and related test equipment.
  • Ability to analyze technical issues and provide engineering recommendations for corrective actions and design improvements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and validate embedded hardware solutions for automotive electronic systems.
  • Support hardware architecture development, schematic design, and PCB layout activities.
  • Conduct technical reviews and provide engineering recommendations to improve product performance, reliability, manufacturability, and safety.
  • Perform hardware debugging, testing, validation, and root cause analysis of complex electrical issues.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to support system integration and product development activities.
  • Evaluate technical requirements and translate them into hardware design solutions.
  • Support compliance with automotive standards, customer requirements, and functional safety objectives.
  • Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and engineering problem-solving activities throughout the product lifecycle.
