Senior .NET Backend Developer – Performance & Data Specialist

We’re looking for an experienced Software Developer who is great at building and improving cloud-based apps (SaaS) using microservices. While you will work on the backend team building new features, your primary area of expertise should be database engineering to support multiple teams across the organization.


Responsibilities

  • Technical Design & Data Integrity: Lead the design of database schemas and data layers, ensuring they are scalable, efficient, and maintainable within a microservices architecture.

  • Query Optimization: Analyze and optimize SQL queries, specifically those generated by Entity Framework (EF) Core, to resolve performance bottlenecks (e.g., N+1 issues, Cartesian products).

  • Database Management: Design and maintain indexing strategies and data types that optimize performance beyond standard framework defaults.

  • Cloud Performance Monitoring: Use tools like AWS Performance Insights to monitor and manage AWS RDS/Aurora performance (CPU, IOPS, and memory usage).

  • Technical Leadership: Define best practices for data access patterns and mentor other engineers on writing performant LINQ and raw SQL.

  • Software Development: Develop and maintain backend services using C# and .NET in an AWS cloud environment, adhering to high security and quality standards.


 Required Skills/Experience: 

  • Experience: Minimum 6 years of professional experience in backend software development using .NET and C#.

  • Entity Framework Expertise: Advanced knowledge of EF Core, including internal translation of LINQ to SQL and the ability to override it for performance reasons.

  • SQL Proficiency: Expert level in Raw SQL and the ability to analyze complex Execution Plans.

  • Cloud Data Stores: Proven track record of optimizing cloud-native databases, specifically AWS RDS or Aurora.

  • Data Architecture: Experience designing schemas for high-traffic, multi-tenant SaaS applications.

  • Infrastructure: Practical experience with Docker, CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab, or similar), and modern monitoring/logging tools.


Nice-to-Haves:

  • Experience writing unit tests, component testing, integration testing, covering both functional and non-functional aspects.

  • Experience writing integration tests that specifically validate data layer logic and performance.

  • Familiarity with AWS CloudWatch and database-specific monitoring tools.

  • Deep expertise in implementation of automated functional tests using Python.

  • Broad and in-depth understanding of software testing concepts and methodologies, including unit testing, component testing, and integration testing (covering functional and non-functional aspects). Demonstrable knowledge of ISTQB best practices. ISTQB certification is a strong asset.

  • Understanding of ASP .NET MVC and ASP .NET Web pages

  • Working knowledge of JavaScript.

  • Understanding of complex flight planning data structures.

  • Experience working with complex flight planning or aviation data structures.

Responsibilities: Maintain the IT infrastructure of the Gdansk office to ensure smooth, reliable operation of systems and services. Act as Level 2 - 3 support for users, applications, and workstation issues after triage, as part of a team supporting approx 150 employees. Administer workstation management tools including SmartDeploy for provisioning and NinjaRMM for configuration management and monitoring. Administer identity access management systems including Active Directory, Entra ID, and BeyondTrust PAM. Create SOP documentation for Level 1 support team to move processes to them. Maintain the Gdansk hardware lifecycle, including procurement, deployment, and decommissioning of endpoints. Maintain inventory and asset configuration process and documentation. Manage third-party vendors. Interact with other team members from different countries. Must-Haves: 8-10 years’ experience Advanced knowledge of Windows Server (2016+) / desktop OS (Windows 11) Advanced knowledge of identity management in a hybrid Active Directory / Entra ID environment.
