Description

Provide Emergency Department (ED) clinical nursing care for patients of any age. Perform triage considering physical and psychosocial needs, quickly assess incoming patients, and prioritize care based on acuity and staffing. Deliver and coordinate nursing care using professional nursing theories and procedures, including emergency response during the shift and collecting medical histories to assess physical and mental status.

Responsibilities

• Provide emergency department nursing care to patients of all ages

• Conduct triage and prioritize based on need, available staffing, and patient acuity

• Manage and coordinate nursing care delivery

• Take and interview patients to obtain medically necessary histories

• Respond to all emergencies during the shift

• Develop, implement, coordinate, and evaluate unit/facility departmental programs

Requirements

• US citizenship

• Nursing degree from an accredited professional nursing program

• Active, unrestricted RN license with NCLEX passage

• 1+ year of professional nursing experience in an emergency department setting (including medications and patient education)

• BLS certification (American Red Cross or American Heart Association)

• ACLS certification

• PALS certification

• Ability to obtain and maintain credential requirements

• Pass background investigations (suitability/fitness; recurring child/youth interaction requirements)

• Complete required medical exam and immunization screening (Hepatitis B required)

• Seasonal influenza vaccination consent or exemption

• Consent to random drug testing (urinalysis)

• Ability to fulfill employment conditions including rotating shifts and required documentation (e.g., US citizenship proof)
