Description

You will set technical direction and backend architecture for casino and sportsbook applications, ensuring continuous growth and ongoing support. The role includes designing and implementing complex, scalable backend features across multiple teams while mentoring senior engineering talent. You’ll also champion AI-assisted development practices and tools to raise engineering velocity and code quality.

Responsibilities

• Set technical direction and architecture for complex, cross-team systems
• Contribute to the design and implementation of complex features
• Collaborate with Principal Engineers and Architects; mentor Staff and Senior Engineers
• Provide technical advisory input to Engineering Managers, Technical VPs, and Product Managers to influence roadmap and architecture
• Deliver high-quality code and stay engaged with how AI-assisted tools change software design, build, and delivery
• Perform code reviews and coach engineers on why specific approaches are needed
• Own the quality, scope, and timeliness of deliverables
• Drive team-wide adoption of AI-assisted development practices and tools

Requirements

• 10+ years of work experience
• Hands-on experience using AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Cursor)
• Strong English communication skills (written and verbal)
• Experience in large-volume, high-traffic environments where decisions must support customer scale
• Deep understanding of AWS Cloud technologies and scalable multi-region applications
• Experience with Java and Spring / Spring Boot
• Experience with RDBMS such as PostgreSQL or CockroachDB
• Streaming technologies: Amazon Kinesis or Kafka
• Message queues: SQS, RabbitMQ, or ActiveMQ
• Experience working in agile development
• Containerization experience (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Experience with microservices and service-oriented architectures
