Quick Facts

  • Role: DevOps Tech Lead / DevOps Team Lead (hands-on leadership)

  • Focus: Building and deploying a cloud-native data lakehouse platform on AWS

  • Responsibilities: Kubernetes/AWS platform ownership, CI/CD, identity & security integration, and observability

Description

Lead the end-to-end deployment and operations of a cloud-native data lakehouse platform on AWS. You will provide hands-on technical leadership, coordinate with client stakeholders, and ensure the MVP can process high-volume Kafka event streams with tenant workloads, while delivering full monitoring and alerting.

Responsibilities

  • Lead deployment of the platform into the client’s AWS non-production environment and coordinate with client infrastructure, security, and identity teams.

  • Build and maintain Jenkins pipelines for build, image publishing, and deployment, including dependency ordering, bootstrap and database migration steps, and replacing the previous GitOps (ArgoCD) process.

  • Integrate platform services (Airflow, JupyterHub, Grafana, and others) with the client’s corporate OIDC identity provider, mapping directory groups to roles.

  • Configure networking, TLS certificates, workload identities (IRSA), secrets management, and KMS encryption.

  • Operate and tune Flink, Spark, and Airflow workloads on Kubernetes; support ingestion from Kafka into Iceberg.

  • Set up and maintain observability using Prometheus, Thanos, Grafana, Loki, and alert routing via Alertmanager.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience in DevOps/Platform Engineering, including hands-on experience as a Tech Lead/Team Lead or technical point of contact for a client.

  • Strong ownership and leadership to drive technical decisions and coordinate delivery with the team and client.

  • Expert-level Kubernetes and AWS knowledge in production (EKS, networking, IAM/IRSA, S3, KMS).

  • Hands-on Terraform and/or AWS CDK, Helm, and CI/CD experience (Jenkins preferred), plus cloud security and observability.

  • Experience with data-intensive platforms such as Kafka, Spark, Flink, Airflow, and/or Iceberg.

  • Confidence communicating directly with clients, including presenting technical solutions and managing risks/dependencies.

  • Successful completion of the client background screening (identity, employment history, criminal record).

Benefits

  • Hands-on tech leadership role building an AWS-based, cloud-native data lakehouse platform.

  • Opportunity to deliver an MVP for high-volume Kafka streaming and tenant workloads with end-to-end monitoring.
