Description

Own and lead the app’s most ambiguous and high-risk initiatives from problem definition through production release. Define technical direction, create solution designs and architectural decision records, and improve application stability, performance, and overall app health across modules and teams. Work across the full Kotlin/Compose codebase and mentor engineers while presenting solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end delivery of high-risk initiatives (problem definition to production release)
• Define technical direction; create solution designs and architectural decision records supported by data
• Improve stability, performance, and app health across modules and teams
• Work across UI, state management, data layers, networking, SDK integrations, and build systems
• Collaborate with Product Managers and Engineering Managers to clarify scope, evaluate trade-offs, and identify risks
• Lead design reviews; raise standards for testing, monitoring, and release processes
• Investigate and fix complex crashes, ANRs, and regressions (including threading and third-party SDK issues)
• Mentor senior engineers and drive knowledge sharing
• Present solutions to both technical and non-technical audiences

Requirements

• 8+ years of Android development experience
• Expert-level knowledge of Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, Coroutines/Flow, and large-scale multi-module architectures
• Proven experience leading architecture initiatives in large multi-team apps, including staged rollouts and ownership of crash/ANR reduction
• Ability to quickly become productive in a large codebase and make confident technical decisions
• Strong English communication skills (written and spoken) with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Strong OOP knowledge, design patterns, SOLID principles, and clean coding practices

• Experience optimizing application and startup performance
• Experience with navigation frameworks or automotive-related projects
