Description

Manage the operational and strategic responsibility for the testing laboratory for product development across Rail, Industrial, and Automotive applications. Lead teams, plan and run type, development, and qualification tests through the full development cycle, ensuring time, cost, and quality targets and compliance with standards, specifications, and certification/customer requirements. Drive continuous improvement of lab infrastructure with automation and digitization, and oversee the development and build of CE-compliant test systems.

Responsibilities

• Operate and set the strategy for the test lab
• Lead and develop employees (technical and disciplinary)
• Plan, control, and execute tests across the development cycle
• Ensure reliable test results and provide qualified feedback to stakeholders
• Assess product readiness and mitigate technical risks via development-aligned testing
• Manage finances: cost centers, budget, and investment planning
• Plan resources and capacity and optimize internal/external testing resources
• Continuously develop test and lab infrastructure; implement automation and digitization for plants, processes, and tools
• Develop and build CE-compliant test systems
• Collaborate with project management, quality, and development teams to support development processes
• Optimize and standardize processes using Lean principles to improve efficiency, quality, and transparency

Requirements

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
• Multiple years of professional and leadership experience in electrical test labs or test fields
• In-depth knowledge of relevant standards, test procedures, and certification/approval requirements
• Proven experience designing, building, and operating complex test facilities
• Expertise in automation and digitization of test environments; agile development of lab software is a plus
• Track record in strategic development of organizations, processes, and technical infrastructure
• Strong understanding of quality management systems; ideally experience with accredited test labs per DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025
• Strong leadership and communication skills, high decisiveness, and entrepreneurial mindset
• Very good German and English skills (spoken and written)
