Description

Design and implement next-generation search solutions using Elasticsearch and modern ML technologies. Optimize search ranking and relevance using tracking data, analytics, and robust online/offline evaluation metrics. Provide technical leadership through mentorship, code reviews, and collaboration with product, data science, and other engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement next-generation search solutions with Elasticsearch and modern ML

• Optimize ranking and relevance using search algorithms, tracking data, and user behavior

• Provide technical leadership and mentorship; run insightful code reviews and promote best practices

• Apply advanced ML techniques (e.g., XGBoost, sentence transformers, LLMs) to improve search quality, personalization, and findability

• Use and define metrics such as NDCG, F1, and CTR for online/offline search quality evaluation

• Collaborate with product owners, data scientists, and engineering teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions and communicate effectively to stakeholders

Requirements

• Deep knowledge of Java, Spring Boot, and Python

• Strong understanding of search solution development with Elasticsearch or similar technologies

• Strong understanding of search ranking and optimization using tracking data and analyses

• Hands-on ML experience for search improvement, including XGBoost, sentence transformers, LLMs, and vector embeddings

• Experience with search-relevant NLP techniques (entity recognition, query understanding, semantic search)

• Experience with e-commerce platforms or high-traffic SaaS, including performance, scalability, and reliability challenges in production

• Can-do mindset with enthusiasm, endurance, and engagement for solving search-related problems
