Description

Join an AI-based Autonomy Hub building KI-supported defense and dual-use applications for autonomous systems. You will design and implement scalable microservices, REST and gRPC APIs, and data-intensive Edge applications, ensuring seamless integration of Edge devices, backend, and infrastructure. Senior-level responsibilities include mentoring engineers and promoting best practices for software design, Clean Code, and system architecture.

Role description

• Build and ship end-to-end application capabilities from backend to frontend and/or Edge.
• Turn AI models into functional, intuitive, and high-performance applications.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable microservices and robust REST and gRPC APIs for integrating AI models.
• Implement complex, data-intensive Edge applications with modern C++ frameworks.
• Design data models and manage SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Develop interactive map views and visualizations for real-time situational awareness.
• Work across the full technical stack to ensure seamless integration of Edge devices, backend, and infrastructure.
• On Senior level, support other engineers with best practices for software design, Clean Code, and system architecture.
• Establish the architectural foundation, combining strategic design with hands-on development.

Requirements

• Degree in Computer Science or equivalent; Master’s or PhD preferred for the Senior position.
• Excellent programming skills in a modern backend language (e.g., Python or Go) and strong C++ skills for Edge applications.
• Practical experience with distributed systems, API development, and cloud-native technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Relevant multi-year experience and proven success delivering complex technical architectures or technical leadership in fast-paced environments.
• Strong design sense and passion for outstanding user experiences.
• High quality standards and motivation to take end-to-end responsibility for the application.
• Fluent German and English.
