Description

Design, build, and optimize scalable distributed systems and large-scale data platforms to support high-volume product experiences and actionable insights. Partner with stakeholders and engineering teams to turn product and data requirements into scalable architectures, and deliver secure, maintainable, extensible, and well-tested software. Drive reliability improvements through monitoring, observability, and production operations, while optimizing performance and cost.

Responsibilities

• Design and build highly scalable, reliable, and maintainable backend and distributed data systems for large-scale processing
• Lead technical architecture and design; identify system dependencies and influence engineering direction
• Translate product and data requirements into scalable designs and integration strategies
• Develop, debug, optimize, and evolve production systems to improve throughput, latency, scalability, reliability, maintainability, and cost efficiency
• Drive performance and cost optimization across backend services, data platforms, storage, and high-volume pipelines
• Improve live-site reliability using monitoring, observability, capacity planning, fault tolerance, and operational practices
• Lead complex technical investigations and production incident response with cross-team coordination
• Mentor engineers and promote engineering best practices across software and data engineering

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years of coding experience in C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python (or equivalent experience)
• Solid computer science fundamentals, problem-solving skills, and software engineering principles
• 6+ years of software engineering experience with a backend or full-stack background
• Experience designing and building scalable distributed systems, high-throughput services, telemetry systems, and large-scale data processing
• Experience with cloud technologies, Kubernetes, and cloud-native architectures
• Experience with data engineering: large-scale data pipelines, data platforms, storage, or distributed data processing
