Description

You will build and experiment with applied data and AI solutions using large-scale patent data, generating AI-enabled patent applications and contributing to novel statistical and machine learning models. You’ll improve patent workflows by recommending AI-enabled efficiency gains and supporting portfolio strategy, quality reviews, and transaction-specific inquiries. You will partner with subject matter experts, stakeholders, and legal teams, including external counsel and vendors.

Responsibilities

• Drive patent AI transformation initiatives for patent prosecution and patent transaction use cases

• Apply patent and AI expertise to support empirical studies with academia and national patent offices; advise on AI implementations

• Create custom AI solutions using public patent data, internal data, and the tool stack for portfolio strategy, development, quality reviews, and other patent workflows

• Develop internal patent transaction review solutions for third-party patent and licensing inquiries

• Collaborate with outside counsel, internal legal teams, and patent specialist vendors to achieve scaled impact

Requirements

• Master’s degree in a quantitative discipline (Statistics, Engineering, Sciences) or equivalent practical experience

• 7 years of patent data experience in a corporate or law firm environment

• 7 years of analytics experience to solve product/business problems with coding (Python/R/SQL) and database querying and/or statistical analysis

• Experience working with national patent offices or academic institutions on patent strategy, policy, and innovation economics using data science and AI
