Lead Engineer - Proofpoint (Email Security)

Description

You will implement engineering solutions with capability owners, control owners, and architecture teams, collaborating with stakeholders to plan and deliver a strategic roadmap for email security. You will own and prioritize the engineering backlog, manage vendor relationships for Proofpoint, and evaluate new technologies to enhance email security capabilities. You will also work with control/service/technology owners to address control defects, service performance, exceptions, bugs, and technical debt.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with capability and architecture teams to implement email security engineering solutions
• Develop and execute a strategic email security capability roadmap
• Ensure successful delivery with partners and align with support functions
• Maintain and prioritize the engineering backlog and run prioritization meetings
• Manage vendor relationships for owned technologies (Proofpoint)
• Assess security needs and expectations with stakeholders across the organization
• Evaluate and adopt new technologies and practices to improve email security capabilities
• Work with control owners on control defect severities and compliance
• Work with service owners on service performance, exceptions, and roadmaps
• Partner with platform/technology owners to address service performance, bugs, and technical debt

Requirements

• Deep understanding of email systems, including SMTP, SMTP Auth, and security layers
• Experience with Proofpoint solutions, including security policies, threat analysis, and DLP
• Knowledge of large enterprise mail environments (Exchange Online preferred)
• Ability to identify, recommend, and implement processes to mitigate malware, phishing, and social engineering attacks
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
• Experience with data protection, cybersecurity, and risk management in highly regulated environments
• Familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks, standards, and methodologies
• Experience with Cloud and SaaS and emerging cloud use cases for enterprise environments
• Expertise in email, collaboration, data classification, encryption, discovery, and DLP solutions
• Project planning, implementation, and delivery experience
• Production support experience for owned applications
• Adaptability and ability to delegate and empower teams
