Description

Identify and prioritize cloud cost optimization opportunities across ingestion, retention, tiering, sampling, routing, and exclusion rules using ROI and risk criteria. Implement improvements via automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) with validation and rollback plans, and analyze cloud-native logging data to uncover cost drivers and create savings forecasts. Establish governance guardrails, monitor for cost regression and drift, and deliver executive-ready reports to senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Implement changes via automation/IaC with rollback plans and validation
• Build enterprise-scale automation for logging/storage optimization
• Analyze cloud-native logging data to identify cost drivers
• Improve tagging and allocation models for accurate chargeback/showback
• Define FinOps policies/guardrails (e.g., retention standards, budget alerts)
• Run optimization clinics with platform/application teams
• Produce executive-ready reports (trends, forecasts, risks) and present findings to senior stakeholders
• Create runbooks, controls, and documentation
• Monitor for cost regression and automate drift detection

Requirements

• Hands-on experience with 2+ public clouds (AWS/Azure/GCP)
• Knowledge of logging/observability architecture
• Experience with Azure (Log Analytics, Storage Accounts, Cost Management), AWS (CloudWatch, S3, Cost Explorer), and/or GCP (Cloud Logging, BigQuery)
• Terraform and CI/CD experience (GitHub Actions/Azure DevOps)
• Automation at scale using Python/Bash/Terraform
• FinOps principles: cost allocation, showback/chargeback, governance
• Experience with savings forecasting and business case development
• Enterprise compliance and risk framework experience
