Description

Manage and maintain Oracle database environments, ensuring stability, availability, and security through monitoring, troubleshooting, patching, and backup/restore procedures. Diagnose and resolve incidents and problems, analyze root causes, and implement preventative actions. Collaborate with security, networking, virtualization, backup, and application teams and keep technical documentation up to date.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and maintain Oracle database environments

  • Troubleshoot and resolve Oracle database-layer incidents, problems, and technical issues; perform root-cause analysis and preventative remediation

  • Install, test, and deploy Oracle security patches and database updates

  • Monitor database health and administer database environment configuration

  • Perform backup and restore procedures for database environments

  • Work with security teams to analyze and eliminate database vulnerabilities

  • Coordinate with network, virtualization platform, backup teams, and application teams

  • Create and update technical documentation

  • Automate repetitive administration tasks

Requirements

  • Several years of experience in Oracle database administration (installation, configuration, updates, maintenance)

  • Experience supporting production Oracle databases with high availability (Oracle Data Guard, Oracle RAC)

  • Experience in database security activities (deploying security updates/patches, remediating security vulnerabilities)

  • Practical knowledge of backup and restore

  • Good knowledge of Red Hat Enterprise Linux

  • Knowledge of IT infrastructure maintenance standards and best practices

  • Very good ability to diagnose and solve technical issues and analyze root causes of failures and performance problems (advanced troubleshooting in production environments)

  • Ability to assess the impact of changes on the production environment

  • Ability to automate administrative tasks using scripts and administrative tools

  • Experience working under time pressure during critical incident handling
