Description

You’ll build and scale the Android software running inside unattended retail devices, creating a reliable bridge between device firmware, payments, and a cloud platform. Work includes a clean hardware abstraction layer, the on-device sales and payment flow, and remote fleet features like OTA updates and real-time machine state. Your code can be deployed quickly to machines used by customers every day.

Responsibilities

• Scale the on-device software to run across thousands of machines with different boards/firmwares connected via RS-232
• Develop the abstraction layer between Kotlin and specific device firmware
• Implement dispensing and payment logic to coordinate products out and money handling correctly
• Build the Android application that connects the machine cabinet to the cloud
• Develop OTA update capabilities, device connectivity, and machine health/state monitoring
• Propose solutions and make architecture/product decisions based on impact

Requirements

• Shipped at least one completed project involving physical hardware and software (e.g., POS, kiosk, vending/checkout box, self-checkout, industrial IoT)
• Strong Kotlin and the ability to own software that runs inside the vending environment
• Experience with serial or binary communication; can learn the device board protocol
• Payment terminal or payment gateway knowledge is beneficial (MDB/cash acceptor experience not required)
• Ability to communicate in Czech or Slovak and willingness to visit sites to solve issues
