Java Developer (automotive)

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Java Software Engineer to develop Java, Diagnostics, and OTA offboard software. This role focuses on vehicle diagnostics and Over-the-Air (OTA) updating mechanisms. The Senior Java Engineer will build backend infrastructure supporting offboard automotive solutions, including telemetry data management, remote diagnostics, and cloud-to-vehicle OTA deployment pipelines.

Main Responsibilities

• Develop scalable backend services and API architectures using Java/Spring.
• Implement offboard diagnostics systems to process vehicle telemetry data.
• Manage cloud infrastructure for secure, reliable offboard OTA updates.
• Utilize CANoe environments to test backend API interactions with simulated vehicle endpoints.

Key Requirements

• Minimum 5 years in backend software engineering in the automotive domain.
• Core Java development: Java, Spring Framework / Spring Boot, RESTful API design and development, microservices architecture, Maven / Gradle, JUnit, integration testing, object-oriented design (OOD), and design patterns.
• Cloud platforms: AWS, Azure, or GCP; containerization with Docker.
• Kubernetes and CI/CD pipelines, including Jenkins, GitHub Actions, and GitLab CI.
• API gateway and service security.
• SQL databases: PostgreSQL, MySQL, or Oracle.
• NoSQL databases: MongoDB or Cassandra.
• Telemetry data processing.
• OTA software update architecture.
• Software/firmware deployment pipelines, secure update mechanisms, package management, and versioning.

Additional Skills

• Familiarity with Vector CANoe or similar simulation tools to trace backend data packets to the vehicle network layer.
• Professional fluency in English and Italian is a strong plus.
