Software Test Engineer

Responsibilities

As a Software Test Engineer, you will help ensure every release of the heyOBI App delivers a reliable, intuitive, and high-quality customer experience. Initially, your primary focus will be hands-on manual and exploratory testing while working closely with product and engineering teams during active feature development. As quality engineering capabilities mature, the role will gradually shift toward designing, implementing, and maintaining automated test suites that enable fast, reliable, and scalable software delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Manual & Exploratory Testing

• Perform hands-on functional, regression, and exploratory testing of mobile applications (iOS and Android) and backend services.
• Identify usability issues, edge cases, and unexpected application behavior before production.
• Validate new features throughout the development lifecycle.

Defect Analysis

• Investigate, reproduce, and document defects with sufficient technical detail to enable efficient resolution.
• Analyze logs, network traffic, and API responses to isolate root causes whenever possible.

Test Automation

• Gradually design, develop, and maintain automated test suites for critical user journeys and regression scenarios.
• Contribute to establishing automation frameworks, coding standards, and best practices.
• Continuously increase automated test coverage as part of the CI/CD pipeline.

Collaboration

• Work closely with Software Engineers, Product Owners, and Designers throughout the development lifecycle.
• Support developers during feature implementation and validate fixes quickly.
• Help define acceptance criteria and test strategies for new features.

Continuous Improvement

• Identify opportunities to improve testing efficiency through automation and better tooling.
• Help evolve quality engineering practices toward a modern, automation-first approach.

Qualifications

• Completed university degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, or a related technical field.
• 3+ years of experience in software testing within agile software development teams.
• Strong hands-on experience with manual and exploratory testing.
• Initial experience with test automation frameworks such as Playwright, Cypress, Appium, Selenium, or similar.
• Programming experience in TypeScript, JavaScript, Java, Python, or C# sufficient to develop and maintain automated tests.
• Experience with REST API testing using Postman, Bruno, Charles Proxy, or similar tools.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and version control systems (Git) is a plus.
• Excellent coordination and communication skills, including the ability to work with developers and business stakeholders.
• Fluent English and Polish communication skills.
• Openness to hybrid work and visiting the Katowice office.
