As a PAM Engineer, you will work in infrastructure services covering Active Directory, Privileged Access Management (PAM), and Access Governance. You will join a PAM Technology team focused on the HashiCorp Vault service, driving backend infrastructure and application improvement initiatives within an Agile pod. With rapid growth in Vault adoption, you will help deliver self-service, streamlined processes while maintaining high standards for service health and resilience.

Your main responsibilities

  • Drive backend improvement projects for an on-premises HashiCorp Vault environment, prioritising reliability and continuous service enhancement.
  • Provide best-practice expertise for the design and build of on-premises Vault instances, ensuring robust and secure implementation.
  • Support backend infrastructure and operations, including application upgrades, vulnerability remediation, and ongoing configuration improvements.
  • Troubleshoot inefficiencies in Vault design and propose improvements that strengthen the service offering.
  • Build self-service enablement by creating clear documentation and self-help material to accelerate developer onboarding.
  • Design and improve monitoring and alerting to enhance resilience with an enterprise-level observability mindset.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and technical teams to influence solution design and keep strategic programmes progressing against milestone scrutiny.
  • Manage ad-hoc out-of-hours work when required, aligned with change management and incident support practices.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience working in a HashiCorp Vault environment; on-premises experience preferred.
  • 3+ years using HashiCorp Terraform, including automation development.
  • Strong release automation skills, including Ansible AAP playbook creation and Jenkins pipeline management.
  • Solid backend infrastructure management experience, including upgrades, remediation, and configuration improvements.
  • Experience troubleshooting complex issues and creating root-cause remediation plans, including crisis-call situations.
  • Experience designing enterprise-level monitoring and alerting solutions, such as Splunk, Grafana, AppDynamics, or SCOM.
  • Ability to work effectively in an Agile team, managing work in Jira and related engagements.

Preferred qualifications

  • Coding or scripting experience and GitHub experience with strong code-management practices.
  • Experience with audit and compliance requests and procedures.
  • Experience acting as a Scrum Master or managing Jira boards and task prioritisation.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to new technologies and self-motivation to learn.
