Platform Architect (Microsoft Fabric)

Our client is launching a strategic initiative to consolidate a fragmented data landscape into a unified One-Data Platform built on Microsoft Fabric. The goal is to deliver a scalable, governed, enterprise-grade platform that acts as a single source of truth for analytics, AI, and operational use cases, enabling self-service analytics, faster data product delivery, and data-driven transformation.

Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end architecture of the One-Data Platform built on Microsoft Fabric, including OneLake, Lakehouse, Data Factory, Synapse, Power BI, and Real-Time Analytics.
  • Lead and provide technical guidance to engineering teams throughout the platform lifecycle.
  • Define reference architectures, design patterns, and Architecture Decision Records (ADRs) aligned with enterprise standards and best practices.
  • Drive technology decisions and establish best practices for data engineering, DataOps, platform operations, and governance.
  • Lead the migration and consolidation of legacy data ecosystems into Microsoft Fabric.
  • Collaborate with Security, Compliance, and Data Governance teams to ensure alignment with GDPR and enterprise policies.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to platform and data engineering teams.
  • Partner with business and IT stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable solutions and strategic roadmaps.
  • Act as a trusted advisor on data platform architecture, modernization, and technology strategy.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in data, software, or platform architecture, including at least 3 years in a Platform Architect or Data Architect role within enterprise-scale environments.
  • Strong hands-on expertise with Microsoft Fabric, including OneLake, Lakehouse/Warehouse, Data Factory, Power BI, and Synapse.
  • Deep knowledge of Azure data services, including ADLS, Azure SQL, Azure Synapse Analytics, Microsoft Purview, and Microsoft Entra ID.
  • Proven experience with Lakehouse architecture, Medallion architecture, Delta Lake, and Apache Spark.
  • Strong expertise in data modeling, data governance, metadata management, and data cataloging solutions.
  • Experience with DataOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), and Azure DevOps.
  • Solid understanding of cloud security, RBAC, data privacy, and compliance requirements, including GDPR.
  • Demonstrated success delivering large-scale data platform modernization and migration initiatives.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities.
