Backup Administrator

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of Backup & Recovery Administrators and provide 24x7 production support.
• Handle escalated incidents and critical tickets.
• Anticipate and predict risks and impacts on the production environment; handle major changes.
• Manage and report performance dashboards with capacity planning.
• Design, migrate, and upgrade the existing backup infrastructure, including integrated best-of-breed hardware and software products.
• Create recommended target backup schedules and operational plans.
• Design media-retention plans and media-management processes.
• Ensure backup jobs are scheduled appropriately and expediently.
• Prepare backup reports using existing tools.
• Install agents and configure backups.

Requirements

• Expert in Cohesity, Networker, and DataDomain.
• L2 skills in NetApp and Dell ECS.
• Good knowledge of data duplication, deduplication, and replication concepts.
• Strong knowledge of backup and recovery planning and implementation.
• Media management and vendor coordination experience.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex problems.
• Complex production support experience.
• Experience with backup solution server/client installations.
• Experience with patching and upgrades.
• Advanced documentation skills.
• Ability to recover a backup server after failure.
• Change-management planning and implementation experience.
• Disaster recovery support, including planning and participation.
• Backup tool migration experience.
