Android Developer

Description

QED builds digital infrastructure and AI for public health and food security in Sub-Saharan Africa, including HIV and malaria surveillance and nutrient analysis of crops and soils. Its work is delivered at national scale in several African countries and is funded by philanthropic and governmental organizations, including the Global Fund, Gates Foundation, CDC, and USAID.

Desired Skills

• 4+ years of experience building Android applications deployed to the Play Store and actively used in production environments
• Experience using Kotlin for Android development, including Kotlin coroutines basics
• Experience with Android Jetpack
• Strong software-engineering background, including version control, readable code, testing, robust design, and basic data structures and algorithms
• Working English proficiency of C1 or higher in speaking, reading, and typing, with a typing speed of at least 45 words per minute
• Logical reasoning and the ability to express ideas clearly
• Willingness and interest in working with people from other cultures
• Emotional resilience and social intelligence
• Care for the quality of work
• Optimism

Bonus Skills

• Prior experience leading a software engineering team
• Domain knowledge of, or interest in, sustainable development goals, especially public health, agriculture, and assisting developing countries
• Computer vision experience
• gRPC experience

Work Arrangement

• Full-time commitment based physically in Warsaw, Poland
• Hybrid remote and in-person work throughout the week, with at least 2–3 days per week in the office
• Flexible working hours; no approval is needed to take a small amount of time during the day for personal business
