Senior Fullstack Engineer (Java + Angular)

Your job in brief

You are an experienced Fullstack Engineer with a strong interest in modern software engineering, domain-driven solutions and end-to-end ownership.

As a Fullstack Developer, you will join a small team delivering a new Java and Angular application for the group's global reinsurance business. You will be responsible for designing, implementing and testing vertical slices across the database, backend and frontend, working closely with business and technical stakeholders.

You will work in an AI-assisted development environment where code, tests and documentation are produced with the support of coding agents. Strong code review, technical judgement and the ability to challenge generated solutions are therefore essential.

What awaits you

• Further development of a new life-insurance underwriting referral portal using Java, Spring Boot, Angular and PostgreSQL.
• End-to-end ownership of features, from database schema and backend domain modules to APIs and Angular screens.
• Development of secure and configurable authorization across three organisations with different access to the same cases.
• Design and optimisation of PostgreSQL solutions including indexes, JSONB and concurrency patterns.
• Development of automated tests using JUnit 5, Testcontainers and Playwright.
• Analysis of existing applications and prototypes to understand and reproduce business behaviour in the new solution.
• Review and validation of AI-assisted code and technical documentation.
• Contribution to software architecture, technical decisions and engineering standards.
• Work with sensitive life-insurance and medical underwriting data.
• Collaboration with developers, business analysts and project stakeholders in a small international team.

Your ideal background and skillset

You bring strong fullstack software engineering expertise. Experience in the following areas is highly valuable:

• Java 21+ and Spring Boot on production systems, including Spring Data JPA/Hibernate.
• Angular, preferably with standalone components, signals and generated OpenAPI clients.
• PostgreSQL, including schema design, indexing, JSONB and advanced SQL queries.
• Experience with SQL/jOOQ for complex list and reporting queries.
• Strong understanding of authorization and access-control models, ideally in multi-tenant or multi-organisation environments.
• Experience with JUnit 5, Testcontainers and Playwright.
• Strong understanding of REST APIs and OpenAPI.
• Ability to read and understand existing codebases and derive business behaviour from them.
• Strong code-review skills and a focus on software quality and maintainability.
• Experience working in a specification-driven development environment.
• Comfortable working independently in a small team and taking ownership of complete features.

Nice to have

• Experience with Kubernetes/GitOps delivery and Jenkins.
• Experience with workflow engines such as Camunda or Temporal.
• Identity and IAM integration experience.
• Insurance, reinsurance, life-insurance or health-data domain experience.

Additional qualifications

• B. Sc. in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
• Several years of experience in fullstack software development within agile environments.
• Interest in software and application architecture.
• Fluent English; German is advantageous.
