This is a frontend-focused role that combines modern frontend engineering with hands-on Drupal theming and component development. You will work on scalable, accessible, and high-performing interfaces while collaborating closely with design, backend, and platform teams.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable, responsive, accessible, and high-performing frontend experiences for enterprise Drupal applications.
  • Build reusable UI components using modern HTML, CSS/Sass, JavaScript, and TypeScript.
  • Develop and maintain sophisticated client-side functionality using React or a comparable component-based frontend framework.
  • Translate UX/UI designs and design system specifications into reusable production components.
  • Build, theme, and maintain Drupal components and templates independently for routine frontend work.
  • Contribute to frontend architecture, coding standards, reusable patterns, testing practices, and component library strategy.
  • Evaluate when functionality is best implemented with Drupal server-side rendering, progressive enhancement, or a JavaScript framework.
  • Participate in code reviews, technical design discussions, production troubleshooting, and the continuous improvement of frontend engineering practices.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of professional frontend or web application development experience, including ownership of production applications.
  • 3+ years of hands-on Drupal development experience, or equivalent demonstrated proficiency in Drupal components, theming, and rendering layers.
  • Advanced proficiency with HTML, modern CSS/Sass, responsive design, JavaScript, and TypeScript.
  • Production experience with React or another modern component-based frontend framework.
  • Hands-on experience building and theming Drupal components using Twig and Drupal rendering concepts such as preprocess functions, render arrays, Views, Blocks, entities, and fields.
  • Working understanding of Drupal caching, including render cache, cache tags, cache contexts, invalidation, and asset aggregation.
  • Ability to read PHP and understand how Drupal custom modules, services, or backend logic affect frontend behavior.
  • Experience building reusable, component-driven UI architectures and integrating frontend applications with APIs.
  • Strong understanding of accessibility and experience building WCAG-aligned interfaces.
  • Strong Git workflow habits and familiarity with modern frontend tooling.
  • Working knowledge of Composer and Drush.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex application issues and collaborate effectively across engineering teams.

Nice to have

  • Experience with enterprise-scale Drupal platforms.
  • Familiarity with design systems and frontend governance.
  • Experience working in Agile delivery environments.
