Senior Java Backend Developer

Join a collaborative, Agile team developing and enhancing a flagship mobile platform and supporting backend services for a global property data and analytics business in the real estate technology (PropTech) domain. The platform delivers data-driven tools and insights for agents, brokers, and MLS organizations across North America.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Java and Spring Boot.
• Build and enhance RESTful APIs supporting mobile and web applications.
• Develop secure, reliable, high-performance microservices.
• Design and optimize database models and data-access layers.
• Integrate with third-party platforms and external APIs.
• Collaborate with mobile developers, frontend engineers, product managers, QA engineers, and architects to deliver high-quality solutions.
• Participate in system design, code reviews, technical discussions, and architectural decisions.
• Troubleshoot production issues and improve application performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code following engineering best practices.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, including CI/CD, automation, and AI-assisted software development practices.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong experience with Java and Spring Boot.
• Solid understanding of REST API design and microservices architecture.
• Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or SQL Server.
• Experience with JPA/Hibernate or similar persistence frameworks.
• Knowledge of modern software engineering principles, design patterns, and clean-code practices.
• Experience with Git and collaborative development workflows.
• Familiarity with unit and integration testing frameworks.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in an Agile/Scrum environment.
• Availability to work shifted hours, 3:00 PM–11:00 PM Polish time, to align with the North American-based team.
• English proficiency at B2 level or higher.

Nice to Have

• Experience with cloud platforms, AWS or GCP.
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of messaging technologies such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.
• Experience with OAuth2, SSO, JWT, or other authentication mechanisms.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot or Gemini.
• Experience working with high-traffic, customer-facing SaaS or mobile backend platforms.
• Experience integrating with third-party APIs and enterprise systems.
• Background or interest in the real estate / PropTech domain.
