A Day in the Life
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
- Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation; evaluates alternatives including cost, risk, supportability, and total-system analyses.
- Performs analyses across the total system product lifecycle, including concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance, and disposal.
- Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of product requirements into total-system solutions that account for technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
- Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detailed trade studies, requirements allocation, and interface-definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
Technical Specialist Career Stream
An individual contributor responsible for advancing existing technology or introducing new technology and therapies. Formulates, delivers, and/or manages assigned projects; collaborates with stakeholders to achieve results; and may mentor colleagues or direct the work of lower-level professionals. The role primarily delivers R&D, systems, or new-technology initiatives from design through implementation while applying specialized knowledge and adhering to policies.

Required Knowledge and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree and at least 2 years of relevant experience; or
- Master’s degree and 0 years of relevant experience.
- For bachelor’s degrees earned outside the United States, the degree must satisfy the requirements of 8 C.F.R. 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A).
Preferred Knowledge and Experience
- Medical device product development lifecycle.
- Neuroscience, surgical navigation, and/or cranial spinal technologies.

- U.S. base salary range, excluding Puerto Rico: $88,800.00–$133,200.00.
- Eligible for a short-term incentive under the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).
- Compensation may vary based on experience, certification/education, market conditions, location, and applicable regulations.
