Quick Facts

• Mon – Fri, 6 am – 6 pm (12hr shift), 1:3 weekend rotation
• Call volume averages 2 – 6 patients seen, 1 – 3 admissions per 24hr
• 15-bed cardiovascular/cardiothoracic surgery department
• Beeper call 1:3 ratio — 20-minute response time
• Vein harvesting and first assist in OR if needed
• Skills: A-line, central line, thoracentesis, chest tube placement
• Ongoing assignment
