About the Role
As a Data Engineer in the X product engineering team, you will play a key role in providing comprehensive data solutions that serve a wide range of stakeholders, including end-users and internal teams such as Product Engineering, Algorithm, Legal, Finance, and Sales. The work utilizes AI, distributed computing, and hybrid storage technologies while addressing broader engineering challenges to maximize the value of data.
Responsibilities
You will help build and operate a distributed data platform that powers hundreds of realtime and batch pipelines processing billions of events per day.
- Design, build, and operate production-grade realtime and batch pipelines that ingest, process, validate, and deliver data.
- Create shared datasets, fact tables, and internal data products for analytics and product improvement.
- Prototype and build tooling that automates internal data workflows such as backfills, dashboards, report generation, and self-serve access.
- Own data correctness end to end through validation, reconciliation, recomputation, and root-cause investigations.
- Work across query engines and frameworks including BigQuery, Trino, Clickhouse, Flink, Kafka, Spark, and Scalding.
- Collaborate with product and business teams to identify data gaps and prioritize improvements.
- Iterate quickly and deliver efficient, accurate, and reliable solutions.
Basic Qualifications
- 3+ years of professional software engineering experience, ideally in data engineering or distributed systems.
- Hands-on expertise in Python, Rust, Scala, Go, or Java.
- Knowledge of realtime and batch data processing tools such as Spark, Kafka, Flink, and SQL.
- Experience with relational and NoSQL storage systems.
- Experience solving large-scale engineering problems and building new systems.
- Ability to translate product requirements into engineering implementation plans.
- Strong communication skills across AI, product, marketing, sales, and engineering teams.
