The Cloud Networking division seeks an experienced Senior II Test Engineer for the Routing Services Validation team. Responsibilities include defining test strategies, designing detailed test plans, and creating automation frameworks to validate next-generation routing platforms.
The role involves resolving software automation and verification challenges in a multi-vendor routing and switching environment. Collaboration with Network Engineering and Network Architecture teams will develop expertise in large-scale testing of routing protocols.
Responsibilities
- Design and conduct thorough end-to-end functional validation for routing services, emphasizing BGP daemons, advanced networking technologies, and core protocols.
- Develop, deploy, and maintain scalable automation frameworks, reusable libraries, fixtures, and tests, while integrating test suites into CI/CD pipelines.
- Conduct performance, stress, scalability, and resiliency testing with traffic generators, simulating internet-scale routing, high-throughput traffic, route changes, and failover scenarios.
- Conduct thorough root cause analysis of protocol state machine failures, routing anomalies, convergence issues, and system-level regressions to enhance software reliability.
- Contribute to test strategies, enhance automation coverage, refine testing methods, and review architecture and design to ensure thorough validation.
Requirements
- Education in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Expertise in Network Validation, QA Automation, or Systems Testing with relevant professional experience.
- Expertise in Layer 2/3 networking, TCP/IP, IPv4/IPv6, BGP, routing state machines, attributes, scaling, configuration, debugging, and validation.
- Experience developing scalable Python test automation with Pytest and network libraries like Netmiko, NAPALM, and Scapy.
- Experience using high-scale traffic tools like Spirent, Landslide, Avalanche, or equivalents for performance and scalability validation.
- Experience deploying containerized routing daemons and creating virtual test environments using Docker Compose, Kind, and Linux tools.
