Senior Mechanical Engineer

About You and The Role

You are an owner-oriented Mechanical Engineer joining the Long Range Platform team to design, validate, and deliver critical airframe and electromechanical hardware used in autonomous delivery aircraft. The role includes end-to-end hardware ownership from requirements definition through production ramp and field sustainment.

What You'll Do

• Own Long Range mechanical subsystems and lead them from concept to sustained production.
• Translate operational and fleet requirements into mechanical performance targets and architectures.
• Create detailed CAD models, tolerance stacks, GD&T documentation, and manufacturing drawings.
• Perform engineering simulations including FEA, buckling, fatigue, and jointed-assembly load analysis.
• Lead prototyping, validation testing, and build-test-iterate campaigns.
• Define verification matrices, corrective actions, and qualification processes.
• Collaborate with Electrical, Software, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Operations teams.
• Support production launches, supplier visits, and field deployments.

What You'll Bring

• 4+ years of experience designing electromechanical and structural assemblies.
• Experience owning complex subassemblies through full product cycles.
• Strong CAD and GD&T expertise.
• Experience with manufacturing-ready drawings and inspection criteria.
• Knowledge of FEA, tolerance analysis, and mechanical calculations.
• Hands-on prototyping and validation testing experience.
• Supplier engagement and DFM experience.
• Experience with structural components, composites, mechanisms, or metallic assemblies.
• Ability to travel to suppliers, production sites, and field depots.

Location & Logistics

This role is based in the listed Long Range engineering location with on-site collaboration during critical phases and periodic travel to supplier and manufacturing sites.

• Aerospace or automotive validation experience.
• Composites design experience.
• High-efficiency electric powertrain exposure.
• NX proficiency.
• Experience with injection molding, stamping, or extrusion processes.
