Senior Product Manager - Device Data & Performance

This position will report to the Principal Product Manager.

Summary of Role

Palmetto's device data and performance platform serves as the system of record for tracking and optimizing solar, battery, and clean energy assets. As the Senior Product Manager for Device Data & Performance, you will lead the strategic direction of a platform supporting operations, field technicians, OEM partners, financial stakeholders, and homeowners.

This cross-functional role includes defining hardware integrations, shaping monitoring and alerting data models, and building workflows for field service and asset management teams. The role requires strategic ownership, execution, and deep curiosity about hardware systems and energy technologies.

Data Ingestion & OEM Integration Architecture

  • Own the strategy for ingesting device data from OEM partners including solar inverters, batteries, HVAC systems, and emerging asset types.
  • Develop expertise in push vs. pull integration patterns including APIs, polling, webhooks, and direct data feeds.
  • Lead negotiations around data access terms, rate limits, signal coverage, and SLA commitments.
  • Build scalable integration frameworks to simplify onboarding of new OEMs.

Data Transformation & Platform Schema

  • Define normalization processes for heterogeneous device signals.
  • Design and maintain standardized data models and API response contracts.
  • Partner with engineering teams to improve reliability, latency, and data quality.
  • Define and enforce data quality standards, SLAs, and alerting thresholds.

Platform Empowerment & Self-Service

  • Establish documentation standards, contribution patterns, and platform guardrails.
  • Build self-service capabilities for querying and acting on device data.
  • Promote standardized responses, clear service contracts, and shared tooling.
  • Drive adoption of platform standards across stakeholders.

Performance Monitoring & Alerting

  • Define monitoring standards for solar and battery performance.
  • Improve alerting logic to reduce false positives and improve workflows.
  • Expand monitoring coverage to HVAC systems and future electrification products.

Consumer-Facing Data & Energy Transparency

  • Define how device and energy data is presented to homeowners.
  • Partner with consumer and support teams to improve trust, clarity, and user experience.

Roadmap, Planning & Execution

  • Own product strategy, OKRs, roadmap, and quarterly planning.
  • Leverage AI tools to improve productivity and platform intelligence.
  • Manage delivery cycles with engineering teams.
  • Communicate clearly with stakeholders and manage expectations.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of product management experience.
  • Experience with external integrations, data platforms, or IoT/hardware-connected systems.
  • Experience owning integration roadmaps and managing vendor relationships.
  • Experience with monitoring, alerting, or operational intelligence products.
  • Background in energy, clean tech, or hardware-adjacent industries is a plus.
  • Strong project management and strategic thinking skills.
  • SQL proficiency or equivalent data tool experience.
  • Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and entrepreneurial environments.
