Senior Accountant

Groome Industrial Service Group provides specialty maintenance services for industries including power generation, refinery, shipping, manufacturing, aviation, and municipal sectors.

Reporting to the VP, Finance, the Senior Accountant is responsible for conducting financial analysis, general accounting duties, and ad hoc reporting. This is a full-time exempt position based in Denville, NJ.

Responsibilities

• Conduct financial analysis and general accounting duties along with ad hoc reporting
• Prepare account analysis and reconciliations of prepaid expenses, other current assets, and expense accruals
• Establish consistency of fixed assets and prepare roll forward schedules
• Review and reconcile intercompany activity and prepare journal entries that net balances to zero
• Prepare, consolidate, and analyze Selling, General and Administrative (SG&A) expenses
• Support month-end and year-end closing processes, including recording depreciation of fixed assets and amortization of intangibles
• Prepare job costing analysis
• Implement a process for updating inventory on a regular basis and record activity to the ledger
• Assist in the preparation of annual budgets
• Ensure accounting is in accordance with GAAP and accounting records are maintained accurately and in compliance with laws and regulations
• Support outside audits
• Complete ad hoc projects as needed

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, or relevant work experience
• Minimum of 1–5 years of experience in financial analysis or a related role
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
• Proficient use of accounting and financial consolidation software
• Experience with Foundation, Oracle NetSuite, Sage Intacct, and Acumatica is a plus
• Strong communication and presentation skills
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial statements
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a small team in a fast-paced environment
• Some light travel to other company locations outside NJ
