Principal Software Engineer
Senior • Hybrid

Xometry is looking for a Principal Software Engineer to join the Partner Ecosystems team. This team builds the high-performance integration layer that embeds Xometry's AI-native marketplace directly into leading CAD and PLM platforms.
You will be the primary technical architect for a major enterprise partnership, responsible for embedding Xometry's AI engines into partner ecosystems. The role focuses on enabling real-time manufacturability and pricing feedback on native 3D geometry within design environments.
This role requires a hybrid schedule (3 days a week) at the North Bethesda, MD or Waltham, MA office.
How You'll Contribute
Software Development and Technical Craft
- Lead the discovery, architectural design, and adoption of the embedded partner integration
- Introduce best practices for native 3D geometry data flows
- Ensure systems are extensible, scalable, and capable of delivering real-time AI insights
AI Fluency
- Use AI tools to accelerate development of geometry-processing pipelines
- Collaborate with the Data Science team to optimize the Instant Quoting engine for sub-second latency
- Define and promote AI fluency standards across engineering teams
- Coach Staff and Senior engineers on integrating AI tooling into workflows
Problem Solving and Decision Making
- Solve complex integration challenges between marketplace systems and enterprise software environments
- Select methods for ring-fenced data governance and secure order placement
Scope and Impact
- Lead cross-team decision-making and execute multi-quarter roadmaps
- Drive deep native integrations eliminating the need for design file exports
Collaboration and Communication
- Act as the primary technical contact for partner engineering teams
- Mentor engineers through complex design reviews
- Promote a unified digital workflow vision internally
Operational Excellence
- Own reliability and security of integration microservices
- Ensure robust monitoring and alerting for enterprise PLM transaction lifecycles
What You'll Bring
- 8–12+ years of software development experience leading complex initiatives
- Deep expertise in Python, React/TypeScript, and AWS
- Strong experience with system architecture, microservices, and distributed systems
- Experience building enterprise-grade integrations beyond simple API wrappers
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with enterprise engineering software ecosystems such as Dassault/SolidWorks or Autodesk
- Understanding of B-Rep, mesh formats, and 3D modeling workflows
- Experience in e-commerce, fintech, or B2B marketplaces
- Experience building dedicated-tenant or ring-fenced enterprise solutions
Compensation and Benefits
- Base salary range: $200,000 - $225,000 annually plus bonus and equity
