Project Director – Soho House Flatiron

The Project Director – Soho House Flatiron leads the development of a new flagship Soho House project targeted for completion by Q2 2028. The role coordinates design, development, operations, consultants, and stakeholders through planning, construction, and pre-opening phases.

The position is responsible for ensuring high-quality project execution that supports member experience and retention goals across New York and the Americas. The role works closely with the Soho Flatiron Operations Director.

Main Duties

Business Leader

Clear communicator responsible for conveying design and construction standards and requirements. Provide expert-led decision making to minimize design mistakes and operational flaws while improving project efficiency and cost control.

Design / Operations Integration

Collaborate closely with Design and Operations directors to implement future-proof operational and design decisions aligned with long-term project goals.

Communication

Work with local officials to maintain positive relationships and support permitting and development activities. Partner with the Operations Director to manage regular stakeholder board meetings and communicate project updates and critical decisions.

Development & Delivery Excellence

  • Manage project execution across design, planning, bidding, permitting, construction, and handover phases
  • Appoint and manage third-party consultants including architects, engineers, and project managers
  • Oversee design scope and minimize unnecessary scope changes
  • Manage tendering and award of construction packages
  • Administer project budgets and financial reporting
  • Manage project schedules and delivery timelines
  • Communicate project progress and key risks to stakeholders
  • Maintain and review project risk registers and mitigation plans
  • Manage relationships with NYC and municipal officials related to permits and land-use issues
  • Support a safe and collaborative working environment

Required Skills/Qualifications

  • 10+ years experience in Project Director, Development Director, or similar leadership roles
  • Experience leading large-scale urban redevelopment projects
  • Track record of completed New York City construction or redevelopment projects
  • Shell & Core and hospitality or residential fitout experience
  • Knowledge of New York City planning, building, and Landmarks codes
  • Experience negotiating multi-trade construction packages
  • Existing GC and trade network in the Tri-State area
  • Experience in hospitality, lifestyle, or luxury brand environments
  • Understanding of legal, financial, and design aspects of hospitality development
  • Leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience with project management tools and enterprise reporting systems
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally
  • Master’s degree in Real Estate Development, Architecture, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to seize, grasp, turn, and hold objects
  • Ability to stand for at least 8 hours
  • Ability to perform fast-paced movements throughout the property
  • Ability to move, pull, carry, or lift at least 40 pounds
  • Ability to kneel, bend, crouch, and climb as required

Salary Range: $180,000—$200,000 USD
