EHS Manager
Mid
80,004 - 120,000 USD
South Tacoma, WA
The Safety team exists to protect Spreetail’s most important asset — our people. The Safety Manager drives a proactive safety culture by owning both the strategic oversight and the hands-on, day-to-day execution of safety programs across the fulfillment center. This role conducts walk-throughs, leads incident investigations, delivers training, and ensures compliance is actively maintained. In the absence of dedicated Safety Supervisors, the Safety Manager carries out the full range of responsibilities required to keep associates safe and programs audit-ready.
How you will achieve success
- Ownership of key ORIR & LTI rates, currently trending at or below industry benchmarks for warehouse and e-fulfillment operations.
- Support Operations teams in determining root causes and driving corrective and preventative actions to completion.
- Ensure every OSHA recordable is documented accurately, investigated thoroughly, and corrective actions are closed on time.
- Support P&C in maintaining new hire and PIT safety training completion above 95% for all associates and departments.
- Ensure onboarding safety training is completed before a new hire’s first shift on the floor.
- Conduct monthly safety audits, track open items to closure, and improve audit results quarter-over-quarter.
- Maintain and practice emergency response plans, evacuation procedures, and first aid resources across all shifts.
- Manage workers’ compensation claims, modified duty programs, and timely claim reporting while reducing costs.
What experiences will help you in this role
- 3+ years of safety or EHS experience, ideally in a production, warehouse, distribution center, or e-fulfillment environment.
- Formal or extensive regulatory experience and exposure.
- Responsibility for 300 logs, complaints, and onsite support.
- Experience supporting multi-shift operations, including night or weekend shifts.
- Direct, hands-on experience conducting Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), safety audits, incident investigations, and root cause analyses.
- Proven ability to independently own and execute integrated safety programs.
- Comfortable working extensively on the warehouse floor.
Benefits
- Flexible work culture with generous vacation policy, paid wedding week leave, paid parental leave, and family support.
- Employee recognition through milestone rewards, swag credits, nonprofit donations, and Spotlight Awards.
- Affordable medical, dental, and vision plans with telehealth and mental health resources.
- Paid time off to support community involvement and social impact initiatives.
