Senior SDET (Software Development Engineer in Test) - JS/TypeScript/Playwright

We are looking for a Senior SDET specializing in JavaScript/TypeScript and Playwright to play a critical role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our software products. You will collaborate closely with test managers, product owners, developers, and other engineering teams to design, implement, and maintain robust automated test solutions. Your work will span functional, non-functional, API, component, and performance testing, with a strong emphasis on automation, CI/CD integration, and traceability.

This is a fully remote position with a requirement to work from 13:00 to 21:00 Polish time, due to the client team's location.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with test managers and product owners to understand test plans and approaches for new and existing software features
  • Analyze requirements, acceptance criteria, and technical documentation to create clear, concise, and comprehensive test scenarios and scripts
  • Design, develop, and execute automated tests covering both functional and non-functional aspects of the software
  • Implement comprehensive API testing strategies to validate endpoints for correctness, security, reliability, and performance
  • Build and maintain component-level test suites with appropriate mocks and contracts, ensuring modules function correctly in isolation and as part of the system
  • Plan, execute, and analyze performance and load tests to assess system scalability, responsiveness, and stability under various conditions
  • Identify, document, and report defects with detailed reproduction steps, logs, and supporting evidence
  • Work closely with developers, DevOps, and other engineering teams to anticipate and test upcoming changes
  • Create and maintain automated test scripts and frameworks, focusing on efficiency, coverage, and repeatability, and integrate them into CI/CD pipelines with quality gates
  • Design, implement, and maintain Playwright-based test suites to verify software requirements and end-to-end user workflows
  • Automate API tests traced to Swagger endpoints and requirements, maintaining mocks/stubs using tools such as Playwright, Supertest, WireMock, Bruno, and Pact
  • Author performance scripts in k6, run smoke tests on nightly builds, execute full load/stress tests on each iteration, analyze bottlenecks using dashboards (e.g., Grafana, Xray), and provide remediation recommendations
  • Leverage approved AI-assisted technologies (e.g., GitHub Copilot within VS Code) to accelerate test case and script creation, verifying and refining AI-generated code for correctness, security, and compliance before CI/CD integration
  • Maintain organized and traceable test artifacts in tools such as Xray, Jira, Confluence, and Git, ensuring all tests are linked to requirements and acceptance criteria
  • Participate actively in Agile ceremonies, including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives, and backlog grooming

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in JavaScript/TypeScript test automation
  • Hands-on expertise in Playwright
  • Proficiency in test case development, including mocking and stubbing tools
  • Solid understanding of API and web service testing, including mocking and contract validation using modern tools
  • Skills in integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and maintaining traceability in test management tools
  • Competency in Agile methodologies and effective cross-team communication
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English (B2+ level)

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with performance and functional testing, including tools such as Grafana k6 and analysis dashboards (e.g., Grafana, Xray plug-in for Jira)
  • Background in containerization and service isolation using Docker, WireMock, and AWS (LocalStack)
  • Experience with contract testing tools
  • Knowledge of Node.js
  • Experience with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot
