Area Manager, Away Team & Crisis Support
Mid
Greenwood, IN
Spreetail is looking for a driven and adaptable Area Manager to join the Away Team — a small, high-impact group designed to support facility launches, crisis response, and network-wide operations excellence. This is not a traditional site-based role. You will be embedded across the fulfillment center network, learning the operating model from the ground up and deploying where support is needed most.
This role is built for someone who thrives in change, learns fast, and wants a clear path to site ownership. When a new fulfillment center opens, you will transition into permanent leadership there with the skills and operational knowledge to lead from day one.
How will you achieve success
- Embed in assigned fulfillment centers during onboarding, contributing to daily inbound and outbound operations while building deep fluency in the operating model.
- Deploy into focus or crisis facilities when the Away Team is activated, providing rapid operational support to stabilize performance and accelerate recovery.
- Hold regular 1:1s with Leads to maximize training opportunities, address concerns, and support fulfillment center team member development.
- Identify and drive process improvements that increase efficiency, accuracy, and safety.
- Champion a safety-first culture by identifying unsafe behaviors or hazards and treating near-misses as learning opportunities.
- Travel to assigned or activated facilities a minimum of 25% of the time, with potential for increased travel based on network needs.
- Prepare to transition into a permanent Area Manager role at a new fulfillment center.
What experiences will help you in this role
- 2–4 years of management or leadership experience.
- Comfortable operating in ambiguous, fast-changing environments.
- Proficient in Excel.
- Experience in standard operating procedure documentation.
- Genuine commitment to workplace safety.
- Ability to give and receive positive and negative feedback.
- Willingness and ability to travel a minimum of 25% of the time.
- Openness to relocation when placed at a future fulfillment center.
- Flexibility to work some weekends and extended hours during peak periods or facility activations.
What you can expect
- Flexible work culture with generous vacation policies, paid parental leave, and additional paid time off benefits.
- Recognition programs and milestone rewards.
- Medical, dental, and vision coverage, plus telehealth and mental health resources.
- Opportunities to participate in community impact initiatives with paid volunteer time off.
- Inclusive and equal opportunity workplace.
