Safety Specialist

Groome Industrial Service Group is seeking an EHS Specialist to support environmental, health, and safety operations across industrial and construction projects. The role focuses on reinforcing safety culture, ensuring regulatory compliance, conducting audits and training, performing incident investigations, and continuously improving EHS programs. This full-time position is based in Dallas, TX, with travel across the U.S. and internationally as required.

About the Position

The EHS Specialist must be able to work independently and collaboratively with management, operations staff, customers, government representatives, and contractors. The role requires mentoring field workers, coordinating training, and supporting compliance and risk management initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and reinforce safety culture in the workplace
  • Build cooperative safety relationships
  • Conduct safety meetings
  • Inspect job sites to audit and mentor compliance with EHS programs
  • Prepare new hires for workplace entry
  • Conduct and coordinate EHS training and maintain records
  • Ensure compliance with government, customer, and company regulations
  • Evaluate EHS program effectiveness and recommend improvements
  • Perform root cause analysis of incidents and recommend corrective actions
  • Stay current on EHS trends, OSHA standards, ATF regulations, and regulatory updates
  • Draft project-specific JHAs and HASPs
  • Assist Risk Management and Compliance departments
  • Leverage new technology where applicable
  • Perform additional EHS-related duties as needed

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Clean MVR
  • 3+ years of direct, full-time EHS experience in the construction industry (preferably specialty trades and electrical power generation)
  • Professional EHS certifications preferred (CHST, OHST, CSHO, CSSP, CSP, ASP)
  • Ability to work remotely and travel domestically and internationally
  • Current TWIC, driver’s license, and passport (or ability to obtain within 3 months)
  • Practical experience with adult learning teaching practices
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Organized and self-motivated
  • Competent in Microsoft Office and adaptable to new technology

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to climb ladders and stairs frequently
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to wear full-face APR respirator
  • Ability to drive company vehicle
  • Ability to operate mobile equipment (e.g., MAWP, forklift) or obtain certification within 3 months
  • Heavy equipment operations experience preferred
  • English/Spanish bilingual preferred
