People & Development Manager - Little Beach House Malibu/Cecconi's West Hollywood

The Role

At Soho House the People & Development Manager will be a strategic business partner to the General Manager for the property they are responsible for and report directly to the Regional Head of People. The role is primarily responsible for maintaining company policies, procedures, and practices including employee relations, worker's compensation, leave of absence administration and recruitment, while ensuring legal compliance across all HR functions.

This position oversees wage and benefit administration, unemployment and worker's compensation matters, training programs, policy implementation, and employee relations initiatives including coaching, counseling, progressive discipline, and terminations. The role supports Little Beach House Malibu and Cecconi's West Hollywood sites.

Main Duties

  • Act as strategic business partner to local leadership and manage training and development.
  • Partner on process improvements to support company growth.
  • Participate in Unemployment, EEO, Wage and Hour, Worker's Compensation, OSHA, ADA, and Immigration hearings.
  • Communicate and implement policies to ensure compliance.
  • Coordinate recruitment, screening, background and reference checks.
  • Conduct FLSA reviews and manage exempt and non-exempt classifications.
  • Maintain employee benefit and engagement programs.
  • Oversee wage and salary programs, evaluations, and annual increases.
  • Monitor safety incentive programs and HR-related Loss Prevention SOPs.
  • Analyze turnover reports and hiring/termination trends using data metrics.
  • Support induction, orientation, and leadership development initiatives.

Required Skills/Qualifications

  • 5+ years progressive HR management experience in hotel or related industry; bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Experience with HRIS, payroll, and Applicant Tracking Systems.
  • Experience with compensation benchmarking and variable compensation programs.
  • Familiarity with employment law and employee investigations.
  • Knowledge of California employment and labor laws.
  • Proficiency in Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and decision-making skills.

Pay Range

$100,000—$110,000 USD
