Job Summary

The Interior Alerts Design and Release Engineer (DRE) is responsible for QVPM, Hornes and outside speakers component and system design, development, and engineering release for Client production vehicles. The DRE will take part in development of vehicle level functional objectives and work to establish and achieve the corresponding component level functional objectives.

The DRE will be responsible for the components/system from initial concept, packaging, software/hardware development, kinematic/compliance modeling, virtual analysis, physical validation, through component and vehicle launch. Responsibilities include overseeing component design, FMEA, analysis (CAE), vehicle packaging (NX), model/drawing integrity (Teamcenter), development, component validation (DVP&R), change management (CCD/WebCN), engineering bill of material (EBOM), build support, issue management (GIMS), joint design, root cause analysis, solution development, and in-person support for associated testing, issue root cause, and plant support.

Responsibilities

  • Directly involved with supplier design efforts and design reviews to ensure compliance with Client specifications.
  • Ensure systems comply with quality, performance, timing, and cost objectives.
  • Collaborate with advanced teams to develop and package system designs prior to sourcing.
  • Serve as the regional on-site support for Interior Alerting.
  • Develop and maintain boundary diagrams, interface matrices, parameter diagrams, DFMEA, and DVP&R.
  • Support system integration with surrounding components, network communications, and ECUs.
  • Perform benchmarking, competitive analysis, and new technology investigations.
  • Support quality and warranty initiatives with technical specifications and evaluations.
  • Conduct RFQ technical evaluations and support business case studies.
  • Interface with EE systems engineering for vehicle functional specifications and Requirements Analysis (RAR).
  • Review and approve software and hardware releases, including DVP&Rs and CVVRs.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance and meet vehicle program milestones.
  • Direct suppliers in developing, testing, and releasing hardware and software.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
  • 3 years of engineering experience in the automotive industry.
  • Experience in mechatronic component design and release.
  • Understanding of vehicle component integration.
  • Experience leading cross-functional and global project teams.
  • Proficiency in CAD tools such as TeamCenter Vis, NX, CATIA, or SolidWorks.
  • Experience designing and operating electrical test benches for software integration.
  • Experience with LIN and CAN network communications.
  • Experience with calibration and diagnostic tools such as CANalyzer, CANoe, INCA, Witech, or CDA.
  • Experience with Reactive Problem-Solving tools.
  • Working knowledge of Client systems.
