As a Senior Database & Unix/Linux Operations Engineer, you will be working for our client, a leading player in regulated industries, pioneering high-availability systems and operational standards in global, multi-location teams. This role offers a unique opportunity to influence best practices and ensure operational excellence in demanding environments.

Your main responsibilities:

  • Lead database administration for Oracle and PostgreSQL systems, ensuring high availability and optimal performance.
  • Manage Unix/Linux infrastructure and support operation activities to maintain system stability.
  • Troubleshoot performance issues and resolve stability concerns proactively.
  • Maintain highly available, low-latency systems within a regulated industry context.
  • Ensure reliability, performance, and operational excellence of core systems.
  • Provide occasional out-of-hours support during critical incidents and escalations.
  • Shape and implement operational standards and ways of working for the team.

You're ideal for this role if you have:

  • Over 8 years of experience in database and Unix/Linux administration.
  • Strong DBA skills with expertise in Oracle and PostgreSQL.
  • Proven experience managing highly available, low-latency systems in regulated environments.
  • Solid Unix/Linux system administration skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills for performance and stability troubleshooting.
  • Availability during UK core hours with flexibility for different time zones.

It is a strong plus if you have:

  • Certifications in Oracle, PostgreSQL, or Linux administration.
  • Experience working in multi-location, global teams.

Language Required for the role:

  • Fluent in English, with excellent communication skills.
