About Merixstudio

Merixstudio was founded in Poznań over 25 years ago — as one of the first software houses in Poland. Today our team is around 100 people (Mid and Senior level). We have 400+ delivered projects under our belt, for clients including the US, UK and Germany, and our quality is backed by the #1 spot globally on Clutch among software houses.

What exactly do we do?

We build sophisticated web and mobile apps, data-rich platforms and IoT solutions. The kind of work you can’t clone with Copilot over a weekend :). An example? For Hol Wschodni MTP we’re building a product that combines data from LiDAR, thermal cameras and environmental sensors with an application for Facility Management.

A heads-up before you read on

We are looking for a Senior Product Designer to join us as a freelance collaborator. We have an in-house Product Design team, and we're looking for someone who can plug in seamlessly, hit the ground running, and deliver work that is both visually outstanding and grounded in solid UX thinking.

How the process works

One meeting. 90 minutes. That's it.

We keep it simple: a single conversation that covers both the HR side (how you work, what you're looking for, how we operate) and the technical side (your experience, portfolio, design decisions). No homework assignments, no multi-stage loops.

After the meeting, you'll get feedback from us — regardless of the outcome.

One hard requirement before anything else: we need to see your portfolio. We're not asking for a polished case study deck; we're asking for work that shows how you think.

What You'll Do

If you have at least 5 years of experience in UX/UI or digital product design and believe that great design lives at the intersection of beauty and usability — we'd love to work with you.You will have a direct impact on shaping our clients' digital products, working across the entire design lifecycle — from initial concept to pixel-perfect, developer-ready files.

  • End-to-End Design: Take full ownership of projects from early wireframes through to polished, high-fidelity designs — with obsessive attention to visual detail, spacing, typography, and interaction quality.

  • UI-First Mindset, UX at the Core: Deliver interfaces that look exceptional and feel effortless to use. You understand that stunning visuals and solid UX are not a trade-off — they're both non-negotiable.

  • Systematic Design: Build and leverage component libraries and design systems to ensure visual consistency, scalability, and efficiency across products.

  • Collaborative Environment: Work closely with developers, product managers, and business stakeholders. You can translate a business goal into a design direction and bring others along with you.

  • Articulate Design Decisions: Present and defend your design choices — including visual and interaction decisions — to both technical and non-technical stakeholders with clarity and confidence.

  • Support Sales & Client Relations: Partner with sales and delivery teams to demonstrate the tangible value of high-quality UI/UX to clients and help shape the product vision early in the sales process.

  • Stay Ahead of Trends: Actively follow UI/UX trends, emerging tools, and design innovations — and bring fresh ideas to the team.

Nice to have:

  • You are a designer with a strong visual eye who never loses sight of the user.

  • You have at least 5 years of experience in UX/UI or digital product design.

  • Your portfolio demonstrates not just solid UX thinking, but genuinely impressive UI execution — layouts, visual hierarchy, micro-interactions, and design systems done right.

  • You have hands-on experience with prototyping and wireframing, and you know when to go lo-fi and when to go high-fidelity.

  • You understand business objectives and know how to align design decisions with measurable outcomes.

  • You have excellent English communication skills (minimum B2 level) and participate comfortably in meetings and workshops conducted in English.

  • You thrive in a fast-paced environment, take initiative, and bring fresh, considered ideas to every project.

Our mission is to help entrepreneurs focus on what matters in their business and life, and to help their accountants become more strategic. We've raised $20M from a group of top-tier investors and have grown ARR 60% month-on-month since our public launch. We now serve thousands of businesses and are expanding our product to serve accountants directly — creating a two-sided platform where both business owners and their accountants use and recommend us. We're at an early but proven stage, moving fast, and building a world-class engineering team in Wrocław to match our ambition. ABOUT THE ROLE We're looking for a Senior or Staff Product Engineer with a strong track record of building intuitive, performant end-to-end product experiences. WHAT WE LOOK FOR 5+ years of full-stack product engineering A strong track record building and shipping full-stack production web applications that real users depend on. Modern frontend fluency Deep practical experience with React and TypeScript. You write frontend code that is fast, accessible, and maintainable — and you have an eye for detail in UI. Cloud infrastructure experience Familiarity with AWS or GCP architecture and design patterns, and an understanding of how infrastructure choices affect product performance and reliability. Strong communication Clear written and verbal communication. You can articulate trade-offs, give and receive direct feedback, and work well without a lot of process around you. Bonus Experience as a founder or early founding team member. Familiarity with modern LLM tooling and AI-assisted development (Cursor, Claude Code, etc). Background in finance or accounting. TECH STACK TypeScript, React, Node.js, AWS, Terraform, PostgreSQL, OpenAI, Azure AI. The team uses GitHub, Slack, Linear, Figma, and Notion day to day. THE TEAM Small, senior, and in-person. Wellness and commute stipend $100 per month. Hardware Premium hardware provided — MacBook Pro and AirPods. Food Daily in-office lunch and dinner. Time off 20 PTO days plus 9 US public holidays. 🏢 Summary: Lead UI/UX Designer role owning end-to-end product design, visual language, and design system for a learning and research product. You will turn ambiguous problems into clear UX flows and high-fidelity UI, collaborating closely with engineering to ship polished experiences. The role combines product design, brand identity, and rapid user validation with full ownership of quality and craft. 🗂️ Requirements: Proven experience in end-to-end UI/UX design for digital products, Ability to create UX flows, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity UI, Experience defining and scaling design systems with components and variants, Proficiency in Figma for auto-layout, prototyping, and system management, Experience collaborating closely with engineering for production handoff, Ability to conduct lightweight user research and rapid validation, Strong understanding of HCI principles and interaction design, Ability to define and maintain cohesive brand identity across product surfaces 📃 Skills: Figma, UX, UI, Prototyping, Wireframing, DesignSystems, Typography, Illustration, Branding, HCI, InteractionDesign, AutoLayout, UserResearch 🏢 Description: ABOUT THE ROLE We're looking for an expert UI/UX designer with outstanding taste and a bias for shipping to lead every visual and brand aspect of our product — from the core design system down to the last pixel. This is not a "pure artist" role. You'll work in a tight product team, iterate fast, and make hard trade-offs when reality demands it. You'll own the visual language of a product used by people who care deeply about learning and research. The expectation is high — you define what good looks like, and you hold that bar as the product grows. WHAT YOU'LL WORK ON Core product journeys Own end-to-end design for the most important product experiences — search and discovery, reading, notes, and collaboration. Turn ambiguous problems into clear UX flows, prototypes, and shippable UI. Design system Define and evolve the design system — components, variants, states — so the team can move fast without quality regressions as features multiply. Craft and details Raise the bar on hierarchy, interaction, motion, and micro-details so the product feels inevitable rather than assembled. Engineering collaboration Work in a tight shipping loop with engineering to land high-fidelity designs in production exactly as intended. User research Run lightweight user research and rapid validation when it meaningfully reduces risk — not as a process, but as a tool. Brand coherence Keep brand and marketing surfaces coherent with the product — visual language, typography, and key visuals. WHAT WE LOOK FOR Elite communication You set expectations accurately and live up to them. No surprises on timelines, scope, or quality. Deep resilience Feedback cycles, tight deadlines, tough discussions — you have a large buffer before stress impacts your output. No ego Your work gets better through collaboration. We're here to build something great, not to manage insecurities. Product mastery You understand what makes great software feel inevitable — clarity, hierarchy, consistency, motion, copy, and details. You've studied the best and can articulate why it works. Brand instinct You can define a visual identity that feels premium, coherent, and distinctly ours — and keep it consistent as the product scales. HCI fascination Deeply interested in human-computer interaction. Actively exploring AI-native interfaces and new interaction primitives that feel intuitive, not bolted on. Bonus Ex-founder experience. DESIGN STACK Figma for components, variants, auto-layout, prototyping, and design systems. Brand identity, guidelines, typography, colour, and illustration. Close collaboration with engineering for production handoff. Lightweight user research and validation. The stack isn't fixed — outcomes matter more than tools. DESIGN CULTURE Radical ownership You own the visual language and the bar. You decide what good looks like — and you're accountable for it. Ruthless simplicity We delete, simplify, and reduce. Every element must earn its place. Fast iteration Polished does not mean slow. We prototype, test, and refine quickly. Direct feedback Feedback is blunt, concise, and respectful. No politics. RECRUITMENT PROCESS Recruiter screening — a short intro call. 1-on-1 with the founder — a conversation about how you think and design. Design challenge (~2 hours) — onboard to the product, review what's working and what isn't, record a Loom and send it over. COMPENSATION & BENEFITS Salary $90,000 – $120,000 depending on experience. Equity and profit share Core team members receive both equity and profit share as part of the compensation package. Unlimited PTO Use your own judgement — we won't count days. Real ownership No managers capping your authority. You own your work end-to-end, with the full trust of the team behind you.
