Software Engineer 2 (Java / Kotlin) - Delivery Experience

Warsaw, Poland
14,600 - 20,825 PLN/mo
🏢 Summary: The offer is for a Software Engineer 2 focused on backend development in Kotlin, working on large-scale logistics and delivery selection systems handling tens of thousands of requests per second. The role centers on designing scalable architectures, improving high-volume data processing, and ensuring reliability of mission-critical services. You will own complex systems impacting operational efficiency and platform resilience. 🗂️ Requirements: Strong background in backend development with Kotlin, Experience in software architecture and scalable system design, Experience with high-volume data processing systems, Ability to monitor system health and operational metrics, Willingness to participate in off-hours duty, English proficiency at B2+ level 📃 Skills: Kotlin, Kubernetes, Docker, Consul, GitHub, GitHubActions, AI, Microservices 🏢 Description: About the Job Allegro is home to 2,500+ tech experts, but our teams? They’re the ones ensuring the physical reality of e-commerce runs flawlessly. We are looking for engineers who want to solve large-scale challenges in areas critical to the Allegro shopping journey and logistics platform - from delivery selection to the systems powering order fulfillment at massive scale. Logistics Platform & Location Intelligence This team is the driving force behind the Logistics platform, focused on the massive-scale ecosystem behind order fulfillment. Their strategic imperative is vital: ensuring business continuity and total platform independence by building systems robust and scalable enough to instantly absorb total traffic volume. They are currently tackling scale challenges by evolving how system capacity and traffic routing are managed, while expanding a network of external logistics partners. As they refactor the architecture to process hundreds of millions of records, accurately predict system load, and optimize volume distribution, they are also defining and executing a unified, cross-organizational location intelligence strategy — moving beyond ad-hoc solutions to standardize geo-data and optimize how addressing is handled at scale. Delivery Selection This team works on one of the most critical parts of the Allegro shopping journey: delivery selection. They build solutions that handle around 40k requests per second, deploy to production multiple times a day, and treat every change as an independent increment. Because without delivery selection no order can happen, they care deeply about code quality, automated testing, and reliability. At the same time, they invest in knowledge sharing, continuous development, and use AI in their daily work to support nearly every stage of building new features. If you hate fragile systems, have a deeply analytical mindset, and want to build infrastructure that thrives under pressure, you’ll be in the right place. The Role We are looking for a Software Engineer 2 with a strong background in back-end programming ( Kotlin ) and software architecture who is ready to lead structural improvements in high-volume data processing software and location intelligence. You will be taking ownership of complex systems where your decisions directly impact our operational efficiency. Your day-to-day will involve everything from designing scalable system architecture and tackling complex technical challenges, to writing high-quality code and ensuring the stability of core software products. Because our systems are mission-critical, you will also monitor core system health and operational metrics, ensuring high performance, data accuracy, cost-efficiency and you will participate in off-hours duty for team products. Important things for you: Flexible working hours in the hybrid model (4/1) - working hours start between 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. We also have 30 days of occasional remote work. The salary range for this position depending on the skill set is as follows (contract of employment, tax-deductible cost): PLN 14 600 - 20 825 Annual bonus based on your annual performance and company results. Our team is based in Warsaw. We are looking for people who: Possess a strong background in back-end coding (Kotlin) and software architecture to design reliable, high-performance systems for massive-scale data. Desire work with measurable results, focusing on building resilient logistics ecosystems and ensuring flawless operational smoothness across markets. Take pride in their code, actively manage technical debt, create clear documentation, and mentor less experienced team members. Find effective solutions for complex challenges, weighing trade-offs between custom and 3rd-party software and integrating solutions smoothly. Navigate tasks from well-defined to ambiguous, bridging technical expertise and logistics domain knowledge for optimal architectural decisions. Continuously develop their knowledge, staying up-to-date with advancements in back-end architecture, high-volume data processing, and logistics operations. Know English at a B2+ level and can clearly translate complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders. What’s in it for you: Well-located offices (with e.g. fully equipped kitchens, bicycle parking, terraces full of greenery) and excellent work tools (e.g., raised desks, ergonomic chairs, interactive conference rooms).
