Java Site Reliability Engineer – Payments Platform (B2B Contract)

We are currently looking for an experienced Java SRE to join a team working on a fantastic organisation. This system operates at a very large scale and supports high volumes of transactions across multiple regions, where stability, performance, and security are essential.

This role is well suited to someone who enjoys working close to production systems, solving complex technical issues, and continuously improving reliability through automation and engineering best practices.


Project information

  • Start date: as soon as possible

  • Work model: hybrid, with approximately three days per week in the office

Responsibilities Your day-to-day work will include:
• In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining the reliability and performance of critical systems.

  • Investigating and resolving production incidents in a timely manner

  • Performing root cause analysis and implementing long-term solutions

  • Developing scripts and tools to automate operational and support tasks

  • Supporting application releases and production deployments

  • Monitoring system performance and improving observability

  • Collaborating with distributed teams across different regions

  • Contributing to continuous improvement of processes and system stability


Required experience and skills

  • Previous experience in a Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, or production support role

  • Strong knowledge of Java and/or Go (Golang)

  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes

  • Solid understanding of relational databases such as DB2, MySQL, or similar technologies

  • Experience with scripting languages, particularly Shell scripting and Python

  • Ability to troubleshoot complex systems and work effectively in a live production environment


Nice to have

  • Experience with technologies from the Hadoop ecosystem, such as Kafka, Spark, Scala, or Hive

  • Familiarity with cloud platforms, especially Amazon Web Services (AWS) or similar

  • Understanding of service-oriented architecture and web services, including REST and SOAP

  • Experience with Java Virtual Machine performance analysis, including memory and garbage collection
