About the job
You lead all aspects of web development, requirements gathering, software development, testing, documentation, training, implementation, ongoing support, and maintenance for both in-house and customer-facing web applications. You will work closely with a cross-functional team of Googlers using UI and functional specs/prototypes as input. You are empowered to act like an owner, take action and innovate to meet user and customer needs.
Our development team works on a mix of third-party and Google built systems to efficiently move equipment into and out of Google's compute and networking sites across the globe.
We partner with teams of logistics operators and material handling specialists to automate a wide range of processes involved in building machines and networks that run Google Cloud, Search, YouTube, Gmail, Maps, and other Google products. Our systems form a platform for global logistics and execution used across all of Alphabet.
In this role, you will be doing full stack development but focused primarily on the backend. We mostly write code in Java and Angular/Typescript but also have Machine Learning (ML) models that use Python. We have a uniquely strong focus on engineering excellence because of the criticality of systems in the material fulfillment pipeline.
Responsibilities
- Write code to enable and optimize the logistics processes at play in movement of material into and out of Google's compute and network sites.
- Design, develop, and run systems that automate Alphabet’s supply chain. Integrate systems with Alphabet’s internal systems and third-party logistics providers outside of Alphabet.
- Collaborate with developers, logistics operations leads, and business systems analysts across Google.
- Identify opportunities for improving engineering productivity and explore the applicability of emerging technology to the logistics execution space.
