As a Firmware Engineer on the AirPods and Accessories team, you will play a key role in developing and delivering system and product firmware for Apple's audio and accessory products. This role offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge embedded systems, collaborating with hardware and software teams to drive innovation and deliver a seamless customer experience. You will work across a range of technologies, from low-level system architecture to product-specific features, and have the chance to influence the design and development of future products.
In this role, you will be responsible for one or more of the following activities:
- Collaborating with marketing and cross-functional engineering teams to define product features and requirements.
- Designing, implementing, debugging, and testing embedded C/C++ code running on 8-bit, 16-bit, and 32-bit MCUs.
- Defining system architecture to implement new products and product features.
- Supporting electrical bring-up and debugging of prototype hardware.
- Creating test tools to enable the expansion of product ecosystem features.
- Providing software to enable the prototyping and evaluation of new hardware technologies and designs.
- Supporting product development activities at partner facilities locally and abroad.
Minimum Qualifications
5+ years of proven excellence in firmware, embedded SW, embedded product development, or equivalent experience
Solid C/C++ coding abilities
Strong embedded system design and software debugging skills
Experience with MCUs, peripherals, features, and development environments
Strong analytical and debugging skills with the ability to analyze and summarize data from logs or experiments.
Passion for product ownership and track record of product development
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
BS or M.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent, experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Python and Mac OS/iOS programming experience is a plus.
Knowledge of audio, DSP or Bluetooth technologies is preferred
Experience with board design, schematic capture, or FPGA programming is a plus.
Pay & Benefits
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $143,100 and $264,200, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
