This position will work as a member of Tesla’s Reliability and Test team to develop and execute full vehicle level testing for Tesla Semi.
What You’ll Do
Conduct vehicle level structural strength and durability tests at in-house and third-party proving grounds
Conduct vehicle level environmental test like winter performance, water wade, hot weather performance etc.
Collect proving ground data using wheel force transducers, accelerometers, strain gages, string potentiometers etc at in-house and third-party proving grounds
Conduct vehicle level powertrain and transmission tests at in-house and third-party proving grounds
Collect test data using wheel force transducers, accelerometers, strain gages, string potentiometers or other instrumentation required
Analyze and process test data and check for data integrity
Conduct vehicle milestone inspections including drive evaluations (handling performance, ride comfort etc.) and investigate test failures
Support firmware upgrades/troubleshooting and diagnostics for test vehicles
Work in close collaboration with Vehicle Operators, Technicians, Instrumentation, Reliability, Simulation and Design teams
Write detailed test procedures and publish test reports, iterate and maintain the test procedure for best field correlation
What You’ll Bring
Degree in Mechanical, Automotive or equivalent experience
3+ years of experience with automotive systems or competitive projects like Formula SAE etc.
3+ years of experience with automotive systems (suspension, steering, braking, closures, exteriors etc.) for semi and heavy-duty trucks preferred
Strong fundamentals in vehicle architecture and exposure to hands-on (school, industrial or personal) project experiences are preferred
Strong communication skills and willing to work with multiple teams simultaneously
Experience with technical report writing and data processing
Experience with CAD software like CATIA, SolidWorks etc.
Experience using data acquisition software such as HBM Somat eDAQ and/or Dewesoft is a plus
Experience with CAN communication and/or programming is a plus
Having a CDL is a plus but not required
Up to 50% domestic travel required, potential international travel may be involved as well
