The Vehicle Dynamics Engineer is responsible for developing the unparalleled ride, handling and steering attributes of all Tesla vehicles. In a fast-paced and constantly changing environment we deliver performance characteristics that help define the brand. We are looking for a skilled and passionate group members who will provide innovative and efficient solutions while meeting demanding timelines and superior performance requirements.

As part of the Vehicle Engineering team, the Junior Engineer will be report to the Lead Attribute Engineer and assist with testing and implementing a wide variety of performance characterization and project milestones within a variety of programs with the aim to support the Program Manager in driving products to customer launch.

Working between quantitative (data acquisition) and qualitative (subjective) reporting, the successful candidate will guide efforts between modeling, design and controls towards developing Tesla character and DNA in all our class leading products.

Duties include planning managing and executing tests, product lifecycle management and working cross functionally with teams such as Modelling, Design and Firmware Engineering. This is a hands-on role requiring a high level of autonomy, proven ability and flexibility.

What You’ll Do
  • Chassis hardware development across all vehicle variants while tracking and maintaining detailed test vehicle specifications
  • Perform subjective evaluation and objective characterization, collecting, processing and analyzing data to drive the development forward
  • Generate reports in a timely manner and clearly communicate findings creating recovery strategies when required
  • Drive Change implementation and meet timing goals while maintaining flexibility
  • Participate in design, program launch and technical design reviews
  • Work closely with the attribute team help set requirements, define process’s and sign off specifications

 

What You’ll Bring
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or equivalent and experience 
  • 1 + years proven vehicle development with both data and subjective evaluations
  • Strong vehicle dynamics understanding and fundamentals
  • Instrumentation and data analysis
  • Prior experience of Vector Canape, Matlab, Motec
  • Demonstrate development experience with key chassis components tire, damper, bushing, wheels
  • Strong desire to develop  vehicle performance characteristics
  • Performance driving background
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal skills, working in a complex, dynamic and fast-paced environment
  • Creative problem solver with demonstrated success who develops innovative solutions
